Chapter 49: Embracing a New Life, Part 2
That night, the four roommates gathered in their dormitory, sitting closely together, eagerly discussing all the possibilities the future might hold. They talked well into the night, feeling as if they had met too late in life.
Shen Mengxia sat on the edge of her bed, holding a cup of warm milk, her eyes shining with anticipation and excitement for the new environment ahead.
Although she had to rush early the next morning to register, her heart was fully immersed in the lively conversation.
When a roommate shared her business idea, Shen Mengxia’s eyes lit up. This roommate was quick-witted and insightful, with an astonishing grasp of market trends.
Inwardly, Shen Mengxia thought how wonderful it would be if she could leverage her roommate’s business acumen to fulfill a long-held dream.
She then expressed her wish to the roommate: to help acquire entertainment companies on the market or seek out stocks of small and medium-sized enterprises with development potential.
At first, the roommate was taken aback, but then a delighted smile blossomed across her face.
The trust and recognition from Shen Mengxia moved her so much that she stumbled over her words, nodding repeatedly to promise she would do her utmost to help Shen Mengxia realize her aspirations.
“However,” the roommate said after calming down, “we should sign a formal contract to protect your rights and to motivate me to do this well.”
Shen Mengxia readily agreed. They exchanged smiles full of mutual acknowledgment and hope.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the window, waking the four young women still lingering in their dreams.
They quickly freshened up, carefully dressed, and, as agreed the night before, went to the largest local law firm.
Stepping through the firm’s imposing doors, they were greeted by an atmosphere of solemnity and seriousness. Lawyers bustled about, piles of documents stacked high, phones ringing incessantly.
None of this dampened the four’s resolve and enthusiasm. They found the receptionist, explained their purpose in detail, and were guided to a spacious, bright conference room.
On the table lay various legal documents and materials. The lawyers patiently listened to both parties’ needs and opinions, then began drafting and revising the agreement’s terms.
Every clause was weighed carefully to ensure fairness, reasonableness, and compliance with the law.
As minutes turned into hours, the four occasionally exchanged nervous glances at the pen in the lawyer’s hand or whispered quietly to one another.
Finally, after hours of effort, a perfected agreement lay before them.
Shen Mengxia solemnly took up the pen and signed her name.
At that moment, an unprecedented sense of certainty and peace surged through her heart.
Her roommate clasped her hand tightly, vowing not to disappoint her expectations and to build a bright future together.
Leaving the law firm, the sun still shone brilliantly. The four young women walked side by side, their laughter echoing through the streets and alleys.
They knew this was only the first step toward success, but as long as they moved forward hand in hand, they could overcome any obstacle and realize their dreams.
These past two days had been so fulfilling that Shen Mengxia felt reborn, instantly seeing her previous life as wasted time.
After parting ways with the others, Shen Mengxia took out her phone and made a call. Then she removed the SIM card, broke it, and tossed it into the trash bin, followed by the phone itself.
Returning to the dormitory, she gathered her belongings and, bathed in the sunset’s glow, got into a red luxury car, ready to embark on her new journey.
