Shen Mengxia gripped Fu Yanchen's hand tightly, looking into Madam Fu's eyes with a resolute gaze. "Mom, I love Yanchen, and that is not something that can be measured by money. We have been a legal couple for three years already. Whether you accept it or not, I will never leave him."

Madam Fu, however, wore a look of cold disdain. She abruptly stood up, glared fiercely at Shen Mengxia, and sharply rebuked, "Stop right there. Who is your mother? Don't just throw that word around carelessly. Hurry up and get out of bed, I'll be waiting for you downstairs."

Before her voice had even faded away, Madam Fu turned around and stormed off in a rage, leaving behind only an angry silhouette.

Seeing this, Fu Yanchen quickly pulled Shen Mengxia gently into his embrace. He stroked her hair with tenderness and affection, softly comforting her, "Xiaxia, don't worry. With me here, I will handle everything concerning my mother myself. All you need to do is have peace of mind and focus on the things you love."

Hearing Fu Yanchen's deeply considerate words, Shen Mengxia's somewhat flustered heart instantly settled down.

Yet, she still couldn't help frowning as she asked with concern, "Um... But darling, what on earth has happened to the Fu Group? Exactly how much capital is needed to resolve the current crisis?"

Remembering how she had overheard them discussing financial troubles yesterday upon returning to the Fu family estate—which was why Fu Yanchen had been forced into an arranged marriage—she wanted to find out if she could be of any help. After all, she was quite a wealthy young woman in her own right now.

Fu Yanchen let out a soft sigh, affectionately caressed Shen Mengxia's cheek, and slowly said, "I will find a way to resolve the financial issues. For now, however, the situation on the Shen family's side actually seems much more complex and tricky."

"Besides, in my opinion, you'd better find an opportunity to have a private conversation with your older sister. When I went to ask her for help yesterday, I had the feeling that she... well, she didn't seem quite right."

Hearing Fu Yanchen's words, Shen Mengxia was filled with doubt and confusion. "My sister? What happened to her?"

"I found your sister at a hotel yesterday, and she had been drugged with an aphrodisiac at the time!" Fu Yanchen told Shen Mengxia truthfully.

Shen Mengxia was struck with horror, her hands involuntarily tightening their grip on Fu Yanchen's arm. "How could this happen? Who could be so vicious?" Fu Yanchen shook his head, indicating that he did not know.

Shen Mengxia gritted her teeth, a flash of determination crossing her eyes. "I'm going to find my sister right now and ask her clearly."

With that, Fu Yanchen took the lead and walked down the stairs. Shen Mengxia quickly straightened her slightly disheveled hair and clothes, grabbed the handbag resting on the table, and prepared to go downstairs to find Shen Mengqing.

She descended without hesitation, her mind racing with anxiety as she wondered how she would face Madam Fu. Would Madam Fu try to stop her from leaving or lecture her?

Yet, when Shen Mengxia reached the ground floor, she was astonished to find that Madam Fu's face held no trace of reproach or dissatisfaction.

Instead, Madam Fu looked at her with boundless affection, a warm smile gracing the corners of her mouth, and greeted her warmly, "Xiaxia, are you in such a rush to go out because of some urgent matter? Why don't you have some breakfast before you leave?"

Hearing such solicitous words from Madam Fu, a wave of warmth instantly surged through Shen Mengxia's heart.

Even so, she shook her head and replied politely, "There's no need, Mom. This matter is indeed quite urgent, and I must handle it right away. So I won't trouble you to prepare breakfast; I'll be off now."

With that, she cast a quick glance at Fu Yanchen, who was standing nearby. The two of them exchanged a knowing look of mutual understanding, and then Shen Mengxia turned and left.

"Xiaxia, come back early once you're done. I'll ask Huaiting and the others to join us so our family can have dinner together," Madam Fu called out eagerly as she followed a few steps behind Shen Mengxia.
