Chapter 15: The Class Reunion
The two little ones nodded. "Sleep? Auntie, will you sleep with us?"
"Yes, Auntie will sleep with you."
With that, Su Xingwan turned off the bedside lamp, leaving only a small nightlight on to help the little ones see if they needed to get up during the night.
As soon as Su Xingwan snuggled into the covers, she felt a wave of warmth—the two little ones had already made the bed cozy and warm for her.
The next morning, Su Xingwan woke to find the two little ones cuddled up in her arms, sleeping soundly.
She got up first to prepare breakfast for them.
In the past, if it were her, she might have slept in until late morning and then just ordered takeout to solve the meal problem quickly.
But now that she had kids, things were different.
She could eat takeout casually as an adult, but such young children couldn’t.
Still half-asleep, the two little ones caught the scent of something delicious and woke up.
"Auntie, you’re up so early?" asked little Su Hua.
Su Xingwan looked at them, already dressed and out of bed, smiling.
"If Auntie doesn’t get up early, what would you eat? Come on, both of you, go wash your face and brush your teeth."
Then she asked, "Do you know how to brush your teeth yourselves?"
"I do!"
"So do I!"
They said in unison.
Su Xingwan smiled. "Good, you’re both amazing!"
Hearing Auntie's praise, they were so happy they felt like flying.
They rushed to wash their faces and brush their teeth, then ran back to Auntie for inspection.
After a careful look, Su Xingwan gave them thumbs up.
"You cleaned really well, very good!"
The two little ones smiled happily.
"Now, both of you go sit nicely at the table. Breakfast is ready."
Hearing this, they obediently sat down, waiting for Auntie to serve them.
They had already smelled something delicious just now—Auntie must have made something tasty.
But when their bowls were filled with noodles, the two little ones were stunned.
"Auntie, we’re eating noodles again?"
Their tone was full of reluctance.
Su Xingwan noticed the displeasure on their faces and laughed.
"Are you tired of eating noodles?"
The two little ones lowered their heads, embarrassed to admit it.
Su Xingwan said, "Did you forget what Auntie told you yesterday? If you don't like something, you should say it."
Little Su Hua looked up and blinked. "Auntie, we’ve been eating noodles for several days now. We don’t really want to eat them anymore."
Little Su Luo said slowly, "Me too."
Su Xingwan sighed. "I knew you’d say you’re tired of it. Auntie even cooked two eggs for you. If you don’t want noodles, just eat the eggs."
"Okay!" The two little ones said happily.
So it was really okay to say what they didn't like.
The water in the kitchen boiled, and the eggs were cooked.
Su Xingwan took the eggs out of the pot, peeled them, and placed them in their noodle bowls.
Little Su Hua ate an egg and said, "Auntie, with eggs, the noodles taste better."
Little Su Luo nodded repeatedly.
Su Xingwan smiled silently, not exposing their little trick.
They just didn’t want to eat only noodles.
"You need to eat quickly. Auntie has to go out later."
"Go out?" The two little ones looked up, noodles still not fully swallowed. "...Auntie, are you going shopping again?"
Su Xingwan shook her head. "No shopping. Auntie’s going to a class reunion."
"...Oh." The two little ones seemed a bit disappointed.
Though they didn’t understand what a reunion was, did it mean Auntie and her brother would be left home alone again?
They had gotten used to Auntie always being around these past few days.
If Auntie went out like before, it would be a very long time before she came back.
Would she turn back into the bad Auntie who treated them poorly once she returned?
Su Xingwan was unaware of the worries running through the little ones’ minds.
After they finished eating, she cleared the dishes, planning to wash them when she returned.
She went to the bedroom to change into a clean cotton jacket and gathered the things she needed for going out.
The two little ones stayed by the bedroom door, their eyes fixed on her as she packed.
Su Xingwan came out and stood by the entrance to change her shoes, noticing the two little ones lying by the cabinet, watching her.
She was startled and said, "Aren’t you moving? We’re about to go out together."
The two little ones froze.
"Auntie, are you taking us with you?"
"Of course! I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving you two little rascals at home alone."
Upon hearing this, the two tufts of hair on their heads practically danced with joy.
They hurriedly ran over and followed Auntie to put on their shoes.
Su Xingwan smiled at their cheerful movements.
Just going out once made them so happy.
Before long, the two little ones were ready.
The university classmates’ reunion was held at a private hotel, reportedly organized by a very successful senior from their university who was hosting the event and had booked the entire place.
The venue wasn’t far, so Su Xingwan decided to splurge and take a taxi with the two little ones.
As long as she could get the photographer’s WeChat contact today, the taxi fare would be worth it.
Soon, a car arrived, and the two little ones quickly climbed inside.
Before long, they arrived at the private hotel.
Inside, the place was magnificent and dazzling; the two little ones were immediately overwhelmed by the spectacle.
For someone ordinary like Su Xingwan, it was even more breathtaking.
This senior was truly extravagant!
Many people had already arrived at the reunion; Su Xingwan was somewhat late.
At first, no one recognized them, and classmates were chatting among themselves.
The two little ones, seeing so many adults, quietly stayed close to Auntie.
Little Su Hua, a bit socially anxious, tightly held Auntie’s hand, while Little Su Luo, more outgoing, boldly looked around.
"Auntie, is this the reunion you mentioned?"
Su Xingwan smiled. "Yes, isn’t it beautiful?"
Little Su Luo nodded. "Beautiful."
"Su Xingwan! I didn’t expect you to come!"
Zhang Qiaoqiao appeared suddenly before her, dressed in a pure and charming outfit.
Su Xingwan greeted her with "Hi."
Zhang Qiaoqiao glanced her up and down, frowning. Why did Su Xingwan show up at the reunion looking so shabby? Was she just giving up? And bringing along two little burdens.
Wu Qian, who also knew Su Xingwan, came over with a look of disdain. "Su Xingwan, how dare you bring your kids here?"
[Really, don’t you feel ashamed?]
Little Su Hua heard this lady’s hidden thoughts and looked puzzled.
Is going out with Auntie and brother something shameful?
When everyone learned that the beautiful woman who drew so many glances upon entering was the Su Xingwan they had been talking about these days, they were astonished.
At the dining table, some young men who had a somewhat favorable impression of Su Xingwan suddenly withdrew their admiring looks when they saw she had brought two kids.
They were not interested in such a woman, especially one with two children.
