Chapter 28: Auntie’s Little Koi

Seeing the woman suddenly become so fierce, little Su Hua was frightened and quickly hugged her aunt.

Su Xingwan held her tightly and patted her back. "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid."

After shouting, Zuo Kerong wiped the tears from her face. "So, the meal we just had—was it true that you intended to drug me?"

"Yes, I just wanted to see you make a fool of yourself in public."

Zuo Kerong asked, "Was it just because of money, so that I would have to rely on you?"

Yi Fan moved his lips but did not deny it.

Zuo Kerong let out a cold laugh. It was no wonder that over the years, all the friends and colleagues she had known had eventually drifted away from her for inexplicable reasons. She had thought she wasn't good enough and that people found her annoying, but she never imagined the truth was like this.

What a meticulously calculating scumbag.

She thought of the past—even when he did things she didn't like, when she disliked his bad habits, his smoking and drinking, and his constant outings with his friends, she had chosen to be tolerant. Yet, this was the result she got in return.

Once she had regained her clarity, Zuo Kerong said coldly, "From today on, we are broken up. Consider everything bought today as your breakup fee. Don't ever appear in front of me again."

Yi Fan retorted, "On what grounds? Do you think you can dismiss me with just these few things?"

Zuo Kerong sneered, "What else? Does a greedy, blood-sucking dog want to keep draining me dry?"

Yi Fan’s expression shifted. Although he was already tired of this woman, seeing a girlfriend who had always centered her life around him suddenly treat him this way left him feeling inexplicably irritated and deeply uncomfortable with the sudden change in their dynamic.

"Zuo Kerong, we’ve been together for six or seven years. I’ve put so much into you, and this is how you treat me?"

Zuo Kerong replied, "Yi Fan, your hypocrisy disgusts me. If you think it’s unfair, I don’t mind posting your glorious, shameful deeds online so everyone can see your ugly, greedy, parasitic face!"

Yi Fan’s face turned deathly pale. "Zuo Kerong!"

Zuo Kerong shouted, "Get out of here!"

Yi Fan clenched his fists, the veins on the back of his hands bulging; he was clearly pushed to his limit. This girlfriend he had always looked down upon had dealt him such humiliation today.

"Zuo Kerong, you just wait," he said, gritting his teeth.

After Yi Fan left, all the strength Zuo Kerong had mustered collapsed, revealing her exhaustion. Her eyes were filled with hurt and grievance. She slowly walked to a corner and crouched down, burying her face in her hands and sobbing softly.

Little Su Hua emerged from her aunt's arms and looked toward Zuo Kerong.

"Auntie, that lady looks so pitiful."

Su Xingwan was startled, then said gently, "Do you want to go comfort her?"

Little Su Hua looked up at her aunt. "Yes."

She walked over to the woman, reached out, and—just as her aunt used to pat her head to soothe her—gently stroked Zuo Kerong’s hair.

"Auntie, Auntie, don't cry, we have to be strong!"

Hearing the little girl's words, Zuo Kerong looked up. Gazing into those clear, innocent eyes, she felt a moment of peace.

"Little one, is it shameful for Auntie to be like this?"

Little Su Hua tilted her head. "It's not shameful. My brother cries too, and Auntie is a girl, so girls are allowed to cry."

Comforted this way, Zuo Kerong couldn't help but laugh.

Little Su Luo grumbled, "Sister, I'm still a little baby, babies can cry."

Little Su Hua turned back to make a face at him, then declared righteously, "But you are a boy, too."

Little Su Luo pouted. Su Xingwan smiled and patted his head.

Zuo Kerong reached up and touched the cute tuft of hair on top of little Su Hua's head, smiling. "Little one, thank you for comforting me."

Little Su Hua said sweetly, "As long as Auntie is happy, that's all that matters."

Zuo Kerong smiled at this. She stood up and looked at Su Xingwan. "Thank you, too."

Su Xingwan smiled back. "You're welcome."

Zuo Kerong said, "I really envy you for having two such cute and smart babies." Suddenly, she felt a desire to have children of her own.

She then bent down toward little Su Hua and asked gently, "Little one, what is your name?"

Little Su Hua said happily, "Su Hua."

"What a lovely name," Zuo Kerong praised. "Hua Bao, you helped Auntie today. Tell me, what kind of reward do you want?"

"Is Auntie going to give me a reward?" Little Su Hua’s eyes sparkled.

"Yes," Zuo Kerong said with a smile. "Hua Bao is a very kind child and helped Auntie today, so Auntie wants to thank you and give you a gift."

Little Su Hua turned to look at her aunt, then turned back and asked, "Can it be any kind of gift?"

"Of course. As long as it is within Auntie's means, I can give you anything."

Little Su Hua replied, "Auntie, I want money."

Zuo Kerong: "..." What an honest child. Su Xingwan felt a bit embarrassed.

Seeing the woman freeze, little Su Hua asked, "Is it not okay?"

Zuo Kerong smiled. "Hua Bao, why do you want money?"

"Because money can help bring my brother back."

Zuo Kerong was surprised. "You have another brother?"

Little Su Hua blinked. "Yes."

Zuo Kerong was stunned to learn they were triplets. Triplets were rare, especially children who were so beautiful and well-behaved. *Ah, the world is trying to trick me into having kids again.*

A moment later, Zuo Kerong transferred a sum of money to Su Xingwan. She then bent down and said to little Su Hua, "Hua Bao, Auntie has already transferred the money to your aunt's account. When you want to buy something, just ask your aunt to pay for it."

"Okay, thank you, Auntie!" little Su Hua said immediately.

Seeing her cute appearance, Zuo Kerong couldn't resist pinching her soft, pink cheeks. "Auntie has to go now. See you again if fate allows!"

"Goodbye, Auntie!" The two little ones waved at the same time, watching the woman’s retreating figure.

Once the woman was out of sight, little Su Hua trotted back to her aunt and hugged her. "Auntie, is the money Auntie gave us enough to bring brother back?"

Su Xingwan didn't want to discourage her, but she didn't want to lie either. "Not yet, Hua Bao."

Upon hearing this, the light in little Su Hua’s bright eyes dimmed.

Su Xingwan stroked her hair and said patiently, "Although it can't bring brother back yet, this money means we are not far from doing so."

She added, "Auntie will work hard to earn more money, and I'll do my best to bring brother back, okay?"

Hearing this, the light returned to little Su Hua’s eyes.

"Okay! Auntie, I will help you earn money too!"

"Me too, Auntie! I can earn money too!" chimed little Su Luo.

Su Xingwan smiled and gently pinched their noses. "Okay!"

Then she said, "Hua Bao, you really are Auntie's little lucky charm!"
