Three days later, after the previous round of screening, only ten people remained. Seven of them were assigned to Chen Yuxuan, while Li Sen and Li Fengyu each recruited a trusted personal secretary. When they heard the arrangement, Lin Chu teased, “Hahaha, Li Sen is already the president’s secretary. The newcomer is now the secretary’s secretary—straightaway, he’s one rank lower.”

Li Sen merely smiled. “It doesn’t matter. As long as he devotes himself wholeheartedly to the company, I have no objections.”

Li Fengyu glanced at Li Sen and said, “Hahaha, you really know how to flatter people. You already knew about your promotion, didn’t you?”

Lin Chu cut in, “Of course he did. Otherwise, why has he been so cheerful since this morning?”

Li Sen smiled sheepishly, and Lin Chu added, “It really wouldn’t do to keep you as a secretary. Before long, even the newcomers would stop respecting you.”

Just as they were enjoying their conversation, a commotion suddenly arose outside. Li Fengyu gestured for the other two to continue talking while he went to see what was happening. Reaching the lobby, he said, “What’s going on? No shouting in the lobby.”

A young man was leaning lazily against a flower stand beside the staircase. He was tall and slender, with a relaxed air and an utterly indifferent expression. He looked about seventeen or eighteen, and was extraordinarily handsome. His medium-length, tousled hair framed fair skin and striking features as sharply defined as though carved by a blade. His long brows resembled swords, his eyes glittered like stars, and his nose was high and straight. His thin lips curved slightly upward in a lazy smile. He held a bottle of liquor in one hand, and the reek of alcohol poured from him.

Li Fengyu asked suspiciously, “Who are you?”

The young man’s cheeks were flushed. He smiled and leaned closer, draping an arm over Li Fengyu’s shoulder. “I’m here to apply for a job.”

Li Fengyu removed his arm. “The recruitment fair ended two days ago. You’re late.”

He had just finished speaking and was about to leave when the man suddenly poured liquor from the bottle straight into his mouth, saying, “Don’t be so stingy. I’m sharing some of my liquor with you. Let me in, all right?”

With that, the man collapsed.

Li Fengyu choked on the unexpected mouthful and was just about to lose his temper when Li Sen, having heard the commotion outside, came over as well. He glanced at the drunk and said, “Fengyu, he’s the employee who came to report for work today. And it seems he happens to be your secretary.”

The moment Li Sen finished speaking, Li Fengyu stared at the drunk in disbelief. “That fellow is my secretary? Keep an eye on him. In a few days, I’ll probably turn into a drunkard too.”

Lin Chu came out and, seeing the scene, smiled faintly. “Looks like things are about to get lively around here.”

Li Fengyu was utterly devastated. Three unpleasant things had happened to him that day.

First, it was the first time in his life that someone had forced liquor down his throat, and he had nearly choked to death. Second, the person who had done it was his secretary, meaning he would have to spend his days dealing with someone like this—a prospect that exhausted him just thinking about it. Third, the man had smashed the bottle, spilling liquor all over the floor. As luck would have it, the cleaner was on leave that day, so Li Fengyu had to clean it up himself.

Afterward, since the drunk was his secretary, he hauled him into the office and flung him down before glaring furiously at Li Sen.

“A Sen, I remember that I’ve always treated you well. How could you repay my kindness by stabbing me in the back? I don’t want him. Find me someone else.”

Li Sen secretly chuckled. “I’m not changing him. I had no idea he was this kind of person either. As for why he was assigned to you, he has the highest educational qualifications among those recruited this time. And I thought the fellow looked impressive, gallant, and exceptionally handsome, so I was generous enough to give him to you.”

Li Fengyu pointed at the drunk and said to Li Sen, “I’ve never seen a drunkard who was impressive, gallant, and exceptionally handsome—except Li Bai.”
