After a period of accumulating shares, Newmin Group had finally secured enough of the stock. Although it was clear that someone had been competing with them for shares, with the help of Li Fengyu, Lin Chu, and the professional trading specialists, they had still managed to create the desired chart patterns on the market.

One afternoon, Li Fengyu finished the work at hand and wearily sank into the chair behind his desk.

“What a nuisance. But at least this phase is finally over. Ye, give me a report on what we need to do next.” Here, Ye was the nickname of his secretary, the Drunkard.

Ye Chen opened the work ledger. “Vice President, according to the statistics provided by the professional department, we now control fifty percent of the shares in circulation. We can create whatever chart pattern we want. Next, we will conduct a trial run of the market. Once we assess how many shares have been locked up, we can decide whether to shake out the weaker holders or drive the price upward.”

Li Fengyu rubbed his eyes and temples, then waved a hand. “You handle it. If anything is unclear, discuss it with Li Sen’s secretary. I’m exhausted lately.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Li Fengyu fell asleep. He had been worrying himself sick over Newmin Group’s affairs.

On the one hand, he had contacted the shareholders of Newmin Group, hoping to have them step in and persuade the others if the operation in silver futures failed. They had to prepare for both possibilities. On the other hand, Li Fengyu was still wondering whether Lin Chu’s father had concealed something from him, and whether the silver futures market truly had a major operator manipulating it, as he had sent Chen Yuxuan to investigate.

These matters seemed unrelated, yet somehow he sensed that they were connected. Recently, they had left Li Fengyu utterly overwhelmed. The one thing that comforted him was that he now had an excellent secretary who could help him manage many affairs. At that thought, he forced open his tired eyes and looked at Ye Chen, who was working diligently. A relieved smile appeared on his face.

Ye Chen happened to look up and caught the way Li Fengyu was gazing at him. His face flushed, and he said with shy annoyance, “Oh, Vice President, stop looking at me like that.”

Hearing this, Li Fengyu nearly fell out of his chair. “You idiot! That isn’t what I meant.”

Ye Chen smiled faintly. “Oh, Vice President, I was only joking. You’re so adorable.”

As Li Fengyu watched the man tease him so shamelessly, he thought to himself, I take back what I just said. This fellow isn’t adorable in the slightest.

Just as the two of them were bantering and staring each other down, hurried footsteps sounded outside. The door was thrown open with a bang, and Li Sen rushed in.

“This is bad! Something happened to Chen Yuxuan!”

Li Fengyu jolted violently. His fatigue vanished at once, replaced by tension. He hurriedly put on his coat and said to Ye Chen, “I’m leaving everything here to you. I’ll go see what happened first.”

Ye Chen nodded.

Li Fengyu put on his clothes and went straight to the Bentley. After fastening his seat belt, he was joined by Li Sen, who ordered the driver to head directly to the city hospital.

On the way, Li Fengyu asked, “What happened? What exactly is going on?”

He was extremely anxious. He had been the one who sent Chen Yuxuan to investigate the hidden market operator. If Chen Yuxuan had been harmed because of that assignment, Li Fengyu would feel deeply guilty.

Li Sen replied, “He was in a car accident. I don’t know the exact details either. The hospital was the one that contacted me.”

Why had something happened to Chen Yuxuan at this particular moment? Was it connected to Li Fengyu’s investigation into whether a major operator was manipulating the market behind the scenes? Li Fengyu had no answer yet.

But an impending storm of blood and violence was already closing in on them.
