Chapter 35: Terry Is Possessed!
Inside the livestream room!
Zhang Xuan's throat bobbed as his eyes remained fixed firmly on the camera!
"Heh-heh~"
"Heh-heh~"
"Heh-heh~"
His voice shifted between hurried and gentle.
The babbling, cooing noises echoed in response to him.
The number of concurrent viewers in the livestream had already soared to four hundred thousand!
Yet at this moment, whether new viewers or seasoned fans, everyone was utterly dumbfounded by Zhang Xuan's behavior!
Only the veteran viewers finally reacted!
"Brother Xuan is using his voice to talk to the ghost infant!"
"This is mind-blowing! I have to record this. Oh lord, my scalp is tingling!"
"Brother Xuan, how are you so insanely awesome? I'm stanning you for life, Brother Xuan!"
"Sob, sob, Brother Xuan is spoiling his fans too much, putting on a show for two whole days straight!"
In the camera frame!
Upon hearing the childish babbling, the frantic fox corpse's bristling green fur actually flattened somewhat!
Even its crimson eyes took on a hint of docility.
Clearly!
"What the absolute hell!"
"Third Master!"
"That fox corpse really seems terrified of the ghost infant's voice!"
The tall, thin man's excited exclamation rang out.
Yet a moment later, the sound of metal striking a skull echoed: "I'll bash your brains out!"
"Whose hell are you calling?"
Zhou Cheng asked in shock: "Brother Xuan... what is that ghost infant saying?"
"Heh-heh!"
The sound in Zhang Xuan's throat abruptly cut off, and that final "heh-heh" seemed to carry the weight of a command!
He drew a deep breath, his gaze burning with intensity: "It's calling him daddy!"
Zhou Cheng's voice was filled with shock: "Ah?"
"Daddy?"
Hardly had the words left his mouth when the sound of a tearing wind suddenly rang out!
"Swish!"
Almost instantly!
A streak of black light suddenly shot out from a crevice in the rocks behind and struck the fox corpse's neck!
Only then did everyone clearly see that it was a chubby tot, about half a meter tall and entirely pitch-black!
Though called a chubby tot, its mouth was filled with razor-sharp teeth!
Its fingernails were as sharp as knives as well!
It latched onto the back of the fox corpse's neck and took a bite!
The dry, rotting flesh and skin were torn away like sugarcane fibers and swallowed into its mouth!
"Ba-ba-da-da!"
A bizarre, giggling laugh came from the infant's throat.
The fox corpse's green fur bristled instantly, and its sharp claws lashed out to grab the infant's head.
Yet the infant was astonishingly agile, leaping around the fox corpse's massive body like a stubborn plaster patch!
In barely a dozen seconds, the fox corpse was torn to shreds by the infant!
The fox corpse's crimson eyes flared with a blinding, ferocious glare!
"HAAAH!!!"
Unable to bear it any longer, the fox corpse let out a shrill roar, its towering body suddenly hurling itself off the stone platform and smashing straight into the rock wall!
"Boom!"
A deafening crash echoed!
The ancient tomb shook violently!
Shattered stones mixed with dust rained down in a patter!
Faint spots of light actually appeared on the stone wall!
Looking at those specks of light, Zhang Xuan asked in sudden astonishment: "Starlight?"
"Well, well, did it smash right into an exit?"
The livestream chat was equally awestruck!
Acting as if he had heard Zhang Xuan's voice, Zhou Cheng hurriedly swept his flashlight toward the illuminated spots.
Beneath the white patches of light, dark green foliage swayed gently!
Sweet, fresh air rushed in gales into the ancient tomb!
"It's the exit!"
"Third Uncle, let's go!"
The three of them scrambled up the pile of rubble toward the stone platform where the fox corpse lay, and the cave opening was right before their eyes!
With just a single leap, they could escape this place!
"Third Master!"
"Brother Tai still has breath!"
The tall, thin man's voice pulled the other two back.
Zhou Cheng hurriedly stepped forward to check, only to find that the claw prints of the fox corpse on Tali's neck had turned purple, but fortunately, his pulse and breathing were still present!
The tall, thin man hoisted Tali up with difficulty, finding his skin scalding to the touch: "So damn hot!"
"It's just like a furnace, his body temperature must be at least fifty degrees!"
"Give me a hand here!"
Zhou Cheng scoffed: "Do you have any common sense?"
"Human proteins start to denature at forty-two degrees."
"Can anyone survive at fifty degrees?"
Yet the moment he touched him, he knew something was wrong.
The tall, thin man snapped at him: "Didn't I tell you the truth?"
"Brother Tai is probably possessed!"
After hoisting Tali up, Tali's nearly two-hundred-pound frame somehow shifted entirely onto Zhou Cheng's back.
He turned his head, intending to ask Third Uncle for help, only to notice that Zhou Zeyi's expression looked somewhat peculiar.
"You guys go on ahead first."
Zhou Cheng froze: "Again?"
The tall, thin man was also startled, flashing back a few steps and nearly stumbling onto a rock.
"Didn't the ghost infant run away?"
"Third Master, what did you run into this time?"
Zhou Zeyi shook his head at the two of them: "It's nothing."
With that, he turned his head to look at the vine-tree below.
"There's still something I need to retrieve!"
Zhou Cheng's expression changed drastically, suddenly remembering that Third Uncle indeed had a purpose in coming to the Warring States tomb: "But Uncle Tai—"
"Cough, cough!"
Hardly had the words left his mouth when he heard Tali coughing on his back.
"He opened his eyes, hey!"
"Brother Tai, do you still recognize me?"
The tall, thin man waved his hand, yet Tali's gaze appeared somewhat unfamiliar.
Zhou Cheng hurriedly set him down, and seeing that Tali's face was flushed red as if he were drunk, he couldn't help but wear a puzzled expression.
"Uncle Tai?"
He called out twice, but Tali did not respond.
Instead, he staggered toward the base of the stone platform, muttering incoherently under his breath: "Master, I have come..."
"Master..."
The three of them were struck dumb with astonishment.
They watched as Tali staggered over to the vine-tree, actually beginning to circle around its massive roots.
Judging by his appearance, he seemed to be searching for something.
"What is Uncle Tai doing?"
Zhou Cheng was dumbfounded.
The tall, thin man shook his head: "Who knows?"
"You can't use common sense to figure out a possessed person."
After watching for a moment, Zhou Zeyi asked in a low voice: "Before I arrived, did he touch that tree?"
Just as Zhou Cheng was about to answer, the tall, thin man chimed in: "Touch it? More than that!"
"Brother Tai even picked and ate the fruit!"
Zhou Zeyi whipped his head around, his pupils narrowing beneath lowered eyelids as a look of profound shock burst forth: "He actually ate them?"
The tall, thin man wore a bizarre expression: "Could that be fake? He ate several of them."
"He even said they were sour and didn't taste very good!"
"If you don't believe me, ask the big nephew."
Seeing that Zhou Zeyi was truly staring right at him, Zhou Cheng also nodded with a strange expression: "Uncle Tai ate them; the two of us didn't."
"Is that stuff poisonous?"
Seeing that Third Uncle's gaze flickered without a word, he started to run toward the base of the steps, only to be called back by Zhou Zeyi!
"Wait!"
Zhou Cheng was baffled: "Wait for what?"
Zhou Zeyi took out his cell phone flashlight and shone it at Tali. The beam of light illuminated him, yet his demeanor appeared increasingly bizarre.
The number of concurrent viewers in the livestream had already broken the four-hundred-thousand mark, and the time was eleven-forty at night!
The viewer count was still skyrocketing!
Yet the more people there were, the quieter Zhang Xuan remained.
Instead, he simply stared at the camera like a spectator.
The more the viewers watched, the more perplexed they became.
Those few seemingly straightforward tomb raiders now all seemed far from simple.
Especially that Third Master, whose motives were utterly impenetrable!
"Brother Xuan, this Third Master isn't playing straight!"
"As expected of someone who can be the boss of a gang of tomb raiders, this Third Master's cunning and methods are certainly no joke!"
"Why is this tomb raiding even weirder than a suspense film? What on earth is wrong with this guy named Tai? Is he possessed or what? Isn't Third Master his sworn brother? Why isn't he paying attention to him anymore?"
"Anchor, say something! How come you're acting more like a spectator than the actual audience?"
"..."
No matter how the chat shouted, Zhang Xuan remained completely motionless, though a brilliant light flashed within his pupils.
He stared fixedly at Tali in the camera frame, as if the mysteries in his heart were gradually unraveling...
