Bun glared at Ingot indignantly before explaining, “Ingot has been bullying Sugar Bean all along. I’ve caught him several times messing with her pencil case and putting bugs in her schoolbag!”

“Fortunately, I noticed in time, so Sugar Bean wasn’t frightened.”

“Our Ingot is just a little mischievous and likes playing pranks on people, but he isn’t bad at heart.”

“Unlike your son. He’s so young, yet he made my son injure his leg. The doctor said that if I hadn’t taken him to the hospital in time, his leg might have been broken!”

The moment Bun heard Chu Yuner’s accusation, he became frantic and shouted, “I didn’t do it! I didn’t!”

He turned to Qiao Ye, his eyes already glistening with tears.

“Mummy, Ingot chased me. The ground looked shiny, so I thought it was glue and turned aside. He couldn’t stop properly and fell by himself!”

Bun had never suffered such injustice before. His little face was scrunched up, making him look utterly pitiful.

Qiao Ye’s heart melted. How could she possibly doubt her child?

She bent down slightly and said gently, “I believe our Bun. Our Bun is a good boy who would never lie.”

Bun’s face lit up with delight, and he nodded vigorously.

Chu Yuner’s expression darkened. Gritting her teeth, she demanded, “Qiao Ye, what do you mean by that? Are you trying to turn the blame back on us?”

“I don’t mean anything by it. It’s just that when Bun and Sugar Bean first came to this kindergarten, I donated a set of surveillance cameras for the school, specifically to keep an eye on the children.”

“Teacher Li, the cameras should have captured what happened, right?”

Teacher Li nodded. “They did, but we checked the footage. It’s very unclear.”

“That’s all right. As long as there’s footage, that’s enough. As it happens, I recently learned how to restore blurry images.”

Qiao Ye sat down in front of the computer and began typing rapidly.

Seeing how calm she was, Chu Yuner grew even more nervous.

She knew the truth of the matter better than anyone. If Qiao Ye really restored the footage, wouldn’t everything be ruined?

In desperation, Chu Yuner walked over, picked up the tea in a cup, and poured it over the computer tower.

The screen immediately went black.

“Oh dear, I’m sorry. I only wanted to take a look, but my hand slipped.”

Anyone with eyes could tell what Chu Yuner’s action meant.

But without evidence, there was indeed no way to determine who was right or wrong.

“Even if you want to restore the footage now, Qiao Ye, you’ll have to wait until the computer is repaired. Who knows whether that recording can still be restored?”

Chu Yuner secretly congratulated herself on her cleverness.

Who would have thought that Qiao Ye would pull out a flash drive and say, with feigned surprise, “Who said the footage could only be restored on this computer? I just checked and found that it didn’t have the right software, so I made a backup of the video.”

“Still, your actions just now were rather obvious.”

Qiao Ye looked at Chu Yuner’s stunned expression and kindly reminded her, “This is merely a personal dispute at the moment. Chu Yuner, if you admit that Ingot bullied Sugar Bean and Bun, have Ingot sincerely apologize to them, and leave with him, I can let the matter go.”

“But if you insist on refusing to admit it, don’t blame me for restoring the video and handing it to the principal. It can be entered into your child’s record.”

“If this matter gets out of hand, Ingot may find it difficult to attend school in the future.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the office door opened, and Lu Qi’an and Lu Tingxiao walked in.

Both men had received the message and hurried over.

Seeing Qiao Ye standing protectively in front of the two children, her bearing undiminished in the slightest, Lu Tingxiao was surprised. He walked over and asked Bun what had happened.

With someone backing him up, Bun was no longer afraid at all. He loudly repeated everything he had said earlier, then added, “Mummy has the surveillance video to prove I’m innocent. Daddy, I don’t want to attend class with Ingot anymore. Is that okay?”

“Of course.”

Lu Tingxiao turned to Lu Qi’an and threatened him with a cold look. “This is the second time.”

Remembering the beating he had received before, Lu Qi’an broke out in a cold sweat. Without thinking, he swung his hand and slapped Ingot hard across the face.

“Didn’t I tell you to get along with your classmates and stop causing trouble? All you do every day is bully people. Who taught you that?”

Ingot was already hurting, and after being slapped, he felt even more aggrieved. He burst into tears and wailed, “You’re the one who said it didn’t matter whether I went to school or not, and that being happy was the most important thing!”

Lu Qi’an’s face turned pale, then flushed red. He had never expected his offhand joke to be taken seriously by Ingot.

He shot Chu Yuner a warning glare. Her eyes filled with tears, as though she were the one who had been wronged.

“Judging by the look of things, Miss Chu still has a few arguments she’d like to make,” Qiao Ye said, fanning the flames from the side. “A moment ago, when I said I would restore the footage, weren’t you completely unafraid?”

Now forced into an impossible position, Chu Yuner saw Ingot’s face swollen red from the slap. Enraged, she lost all reason.

“What do I have to be afraid of? This wasn’t done by Ingot in the first place. Our Ingot would never think up such a vicious method!”

“Maybe someone secretly gave Bun the idea. A child couldn’t come up with something like that, but an adult certainly could.”

With that, she shot Qiao Ye a cold look.

The implication was unmistakable.

“And now you say the footage can be restored? I had no idea someone from finance like you had also studied computers, Miss Qiao.”

“You certainly know a great deal about me, Miss Chu.”

Qiao Ye turned to Lu Tingxiao, her eyes filled with confidence and sly amusement.

“I remember you always carry a computer with you. Do you have one in the car?”

“Yes. I’ll get it.”

Lu Tingxiao also wanted to know the truth. He moved quickly and soon returned with a high-end business laptop.

Qiao Ye plugged in the flash drive, then raised her eyes to Chu Yuner.

“I already gave you a chance to tell the truth. Since you refuse to repent, once I restore this footage, I’ll make it public.”

“Qiao Ye!”

Uneasy, Lu Qi’an tried to stop her, but Lu Tingxiao blocked him.

“I’d like to see who dares lay a hand on her.”

Those words left Lu Qi’an’s face flushed crimson. He no longer dared say another word.

Seeing Lu Qi’an repeatedly defeated by Lu Tingxiao, Chu Yuner refused to give up. She stepped forward and said softly and sweetly, “Little Uncle, this is all a misunderstanding. Our Ingot is simply a little mischievous. He isn’t bad at heart.”

Lu Tingxiao lowered his eyes and looked her over. His gaze made Chu Yuner flush shyly for a moment, but the icy words that followed sent a chill through her entire body.

“What are you to me? How dare you call me that?”

Chu Yuner’s face turned ugly. She retreated several steps in embarrassment and did not dare speak again.

Sugar Bean and Bun sat obediently on either side of Qiao Ye.

The two children watched the computer screen curiously while Qiao Ye focused intently on the task, her fingers striking the keyboard without pause.

After an unknown length of time, Sugar Bean cried out in amazement, “It’s really becoming clearer! Mummy, how did you do that? You’re amazing!”

Bun was delighted as well. “I knew Mummy could do it! Hmph! How dare they accuse me falsely. Just wait until you apologize!”

A few minutes later, the restoration was complete. Qiao Ye handed the computer to Lu Tingxiao.

“Here. Take a look. This is the clearest version possible.”
