Chapter 19: The Interview at Galaxy Corporation

When Yao Shan returned home, Xu Miao was sitting on the sofa. It seemed as if she had been waiting for her.

Yao Shan entered the living room and noticed Xu Miao’s gaze. She smiled slightly and greeted politely, “Good evening, Miss Xu.”

Although she harbored no genuine fondness for Xu Miao, she never neglected the proper courtesies.

“Miss Yao, why did you come back so late today?” Xu Miao asked with a smile.

She seemed to have forgotten that Yao Shan was the lady of the house, and she had no right to question her.

Yao Shan gently set down her bag and replied, “There was an important meeting at the company today, so I was held up a bit.”

She did not elaborate further, as Xu Miao did not need to know the specifics.

Xu Miao nodded, appearing satisfied with the answer, but a subtle sharpness hid behind her eyes.

She stood and approached Yao Shan, her tone probing, “Miss Yao, I heard that your company has been negotiating a collaboration with the Pei Group recently.”

Yao Shan was momentarily taken aback; she hadn’t expected Xu Miao to suddenly bring up work matters.

Maintaining her polite smile, she responded, “It’s just business between two companies. Is there something you want to ask, Miss Xu?”

“I want to join your company and be responsible for this project,” Xu Miao stated directly.

Deep down, she understood that Pei Qizhou’s goodwill toward her was entirely because she had saved Pei Yi’s life.

Beyond that connection, Pei Qizhou might not care for her at all.

That was why she had to repeatedly prove herself before Pei Qizhou to win more of his favor.

“Miss Xu, are you joking?” Yao Shan even doubted if she had heard correctly.

Was Xu Miao seriously expecting to be placed in the company like that?

“I’m not joking,” Xu Miao said earnestly.

“Well then, you can come to our company for an interview yourself. I don’t have that authority,” Yao Shan said before heading upstairs.

Back in her room, Yao Shan found Xu Miao’s proposal absurd.

She knew Xu Miao’s intentions, but Yao Shan would never allow personal ties to influence company decisions.

She sat down and began organizing her thoughts, preparing the next day’s work plan.

Meanwhile, Xu Miao paced the living room, filled with frustration and anger.

She realized that without making a mark professionally, it would be difficult to secure a more important place in Pei Qizhou’s heart.

Resolute, Xu Miao vowed to find a way to make Pei Qizhou recognize her value and capability.

The next day, Xu Miao went straight to the Xinghe Group where Yao Shan worked.

“Hello, miss. How can I assist you?” the receptionist asked respectfully.

“I’m here to apply for a job!” Xu Miao said confidently.

She didn’t believe there was anything she couldn’t succeed at.

“Apply for a job?” The receptionist was taken aback.

She hadn’t heard of any hiring plans recently.

Xu Miao’s sudden appearance caught her off guard, but she quickly regained her professionalism and politely explained, “Sorry, miss, our company currently has no job openings. If you wish to apply in the future, please follow our official website, where new vacancies will be posted promptly.”

“I don’t have time to wait,” Xu Miao said with displeasure. “Contact your management for me. I want to start working now!”

She didn’t care if there were no vacancies; she simply wanted in immediately.

The receptionist was troubled by Xu Miao’s insistence.

She knew the company had strict hiring procedures and wouldn’t bend for one person’s sudden demand.

Yet, she sensed this young lady was no ordinary person and dared not offend her lightly.

“Miss, I understand your urgency, but the company requires formal procedures,” the receptionist patiently explained, all the while pondering how best to handle the situation.

Xu Miao remained unmoved, her eyes radiating unwavering determination. “I don’t care about your rules. I want to see your management today.”

The receptionist realized that mishandling this could bring unnecessary trouble to the company.

She decided to consult her superior and called the head of Human Resources to report the situation.

Upon hearing the report, the HR head found the matter somewhat delicate.

He decided to come downstairs personally to assess the situation. When he saw Xu Miao, he politely inquired about her purpose and tried to understand her background and motives.

“I only want to participate in your company’s collaboration project with the Pei Group. Nothing else matters. I don’t even need a salary,” Xu Miao said bluntly.

The HR head furrowed his brow slightly, realizing that this young lady might have some connection to the Pei Group.

He responded cautiously, “Miss Xu, I understand your interest in the project, but the company has clear recruitment processes and standards. If you want to join us, you must go through the proper interviews and evaluations.”

Xu Miao’s expression darkened; she had no intention of following the usual hiring route. She wanted direct involvement in the project.

She insisted, “I understand the company’s rules, but my situation is special. I have my own way. I just need a chance—one chance to prove my abilities.”

Seeing Xu Miao’s firm stance and knowing the matter could not be delayed, the HR head proposed, “Alright, Miss Xu, I will arrange an interview for you. But please understand, whether you join the company will depend on your performance and the company’s needs.”

Xu Miao knew this was the best outcome for now and nodded in agreement.

“Please wait a moment. I will contact the project manager.”

This was not a decision the HR head could make alone; the project manager needed to be involved.

“What?” The project manager looked at the HR head in shock. “We don’t need anyone.”

She waved her hand with a frown.

For the collaboration with the Pei Group, just she and Yao Shan were enough.

There was no need to bring in anyone else.

Besides, she didn’t even know who this person was and didn’t want to add trouble for herself.

“But the young lady is insisting on coming. I’m worried she might have some connection with the Pei Group,” the HR head whispered.

He knew the project manager’s usual strictness and wouldn’t consult her unless all other options were exhausted.

After all, this girl acted so arrogantly that it naturally made him suspicious about her ties to the Pei Group.

“I’ll go see for myself,” the project manager said, her brow furrowed.

She wanted to find out who this person was and why she was making such demands.
