Chapter 14: You Hand It to Him Yourself
Zhang Chenxi's lips curled into his signature charming smile, a subtle hint of amusement flickering in his eyes as he softly said, “Why don’t you hand it to him yourself?”
His fair face seemed to glow softly under the sunlight, his neat, white teeth faintly visible. His jet-black, smooth short hair swayed gently with the motion of his speech.
Upon hearing this, the girl’s face instantly turned fearful. She shook her head vigorously like a rattle, and her body instinctively took a few steps back.
Her eyes fixed tightly on Lin Siqing not far away. Lin Siqing was slowly lifting his head, rising from his desk.
His movements were tinged with laziness but exuded an indescribable aura of intimidation.
The girl seemed to have glimpsed something terrifying; she turned and fled like an arrow shot from a bow. In her panic, her hair fluttered wildly in the wind, and her footsteps faltered slightly.
Zhang Chenxi maintained that seemingly harmless smile, standing upright with his hands casually tucked into his pockets, his posture elegant and poised.
However, Lin Siqing cast a cold, disdainful glance at him.
Lin Siqing’s eyes narrowed slightly, his deep gaze like a chilling abyss, icy and piercing.
He straightened his spine, his tall figure exuding a powerful sense of oppression.
With lips barely parted and a trace of mockery, he said, “Your disguise is truly hideous.”
After speaking, he strode forward with an innate arrogance, each step seeming to press down on the hearts of those around him, causing the air to grow heavy.
Within the confined space of the classroom, the two men stood facing each other like statues.
Lin Siqing’s face was stern, his eyes sharp and cold as he scrutinized Zhang Chenxi with undisguised contempt.
His feet planted firmly apart, he stood solidly on the ground with arms crossed. The defined muscles beneath his shirt hinted at a leopard ready to pounce, radiating a palpable aura warning others to keep their distance.
Despite facing Lin Siqing’s overwhelming presence, Zhang Chenxi’s smile remained gentle.
His smile was like the warm spring sun, dissipating gloom, his eyes curved into crescent moons, clear and bright without a trace of panic.
He responded to Lin Siqing’s provocation calmly and gracefully, his shoulders relaxed.
One hand rested lightly on a nearby desk, his fingers rhythmically tapping out a soft “tap tap” on the surface, as if setting an unusual beat to this tense standoff.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment. The surrounding students held their breath, cautiously watching this silent duel.
Some nervously sweated, fearing the confrontation might escalate into a fierce clash.
Yet, just when everyone thought the tension would rise further, Lin Siqing suddenly found it dull.
He hummed softly, lowered his arms, and relaxed his previously tense body.
“Let’s go. We haven’t had lunch yet,” Lin Siqing’s voice broke the silence, laced with a hint of laziness and nonchalance.
He turned and strode toward the classroom door, his steps firm and resolute, each one seeming to carry a sense of relief.
Zhang Chenxi watched Lin Siqing’s retreating figure, his smile never fading, though a flicker of complexity passed through his eyes—this guy really knows how to expose my weaknesses.
After a moment, he followed at a leisurely pace, maintaining some distance from Lin Siqing.
Their figures gradually disappeared at the classroom door under the watchful eyes of their classmates, leaving behind a group still savoring the unexpected confrontation.
*
Fu Siqiao and Xu Zhixing walked hand in hand, laughing joyfully as they entered the noisy cafeteria.
Fu Siqiao’s glossy, black hair swayed lightly with her steps, her blue-and-white uniform accentuating her youthful vitality.
Her bright eyes curiously scanned the food counters, her petite nose sniffing the aroma of dishes wafting through the air. Her rosy lips lifted slightly, carrying a hint of anticipation.
She briskly approached the serving window, generously selecting many of her favorite dishes.
Her tray quickly piled high with vibrant food—emerald green vegetables, golden fried items, and richly sauced roasted meats—diverse and colorful.
Meanwhile, Xu Zhixing, taking advantage of Fu Siqiao’s distraction, quietly bought a simple boxed meal.
As Fu Siqiao finished getting her food and looked around the cafeteria, she spotted the radiant Zhang Chenxi sitting at a corner table.
He seemed enveloped in a unique aura, creating a small halo around him.
Delighted, Fu Siqiao’s eyes sparkled with excitement. Grasping Xu Zhixing’s hand, she quickly approached Zhang Chenxi, her legs under the skirt moving like lively fawns.
“Zhang Chenxi, can we sit here?” she teased playfully, smiling at him.
Zhang Chenxi looked up, his face immediately blossoming into a smile as gentle as spring breeze, his gaze filled with warmth and surprise, as if beholding the most beautiful sight in the world.
“Of course, lovely ladies,” he responded warmly, his voice like a melodious tune, clear amidst the cafeteria’s clamor.
Hearing the word “ladies,” Fu Siqiao was momentarily stunned, then laughed awkwardly, her hands nervously twisting the hem of her uniform into a small knot.
“I’m not the beauty here; Xu Zhixing is,” she said shyly, her eyes tinged with a hint of insecurity, her head slightly bowed, a few strands of hair falling beside her cheeks, accentuating her delicate bashfulness.
Xu Zhixing gently patted Fu Siqiao’s shoulder in reassurance.
Her exquisite face, framed by the blue-and-white uniform, resembled a blooming flower, captivating and impossible to look away from.
Her eyes shone bright and lively, long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings.
But Zhang Chenxi thought otherwise. He shook his head slightly, his gaze earnest and intense as he looked at Fu Siqiao and said seriously, “You’re beautiful too.”
His sincere and passionate eyes stirred a warm current within Fu Siqiao’s heart, gradually dispelling her earlier embarrassment.
Lin Siqing sat beside Zhang Chenxi, his eyes full of impatience and annoyance as he fixed his gaze on where Fu Siqiao and the others sat.
His brows furrowed deeply, forming a clear “川” shape, as if concealing boundless anger within.
His lips curled downward slightly, a sneer etched across his cold, stern face, making him appear even more frigid, as if capable of freezing the surrounding air.
Especially when he saw Fu Siqiao, his loathing was unmistakably evident.
Fu Siqiao’s cheerful laughter sounded to him like a piercing noise, causing his temples to throb painfully.
Watching Fu Siqiao chatting and laughing with Zhang Chenxi, a sudden surge of rage ignited within him.
Lin Siqing abruptly stood up, striding toward them with heavy, thunderous steps, each pounding like an outburst of fury.
He reached their table and looked down at Fu Siqiao with a scowl, saying sourly, “Can you stop giggling here? It’s really annoying!”
His voice was harsh and grating, like the biting cold wind of winter, making hearts shudder.
Startled by his sudden rebuke, Fu Siqiao’s smile froze instantly. What was this guy up to now?
Her lips trembled slightly as if wanting to speak but stopped herself.
Xu Zhixing and Zhang Chenxi were also taken aback by Lin Siqing’s behavior, their faces showing displeasure and concern.
The atmosphere in the cafeteria instantly grew tense, and curious gazes from surrounding students turned toward the scene.
