Chapter 45 Snap Her Old Bones in Half
"You're going to write a book? Seriously! Are you becoming an author?"
Suzy, who was in the middle of a meal, almost bit her tongue. After all, to an entertainer, the profession of an author still seemed quite lofty. Though she had always been considered quite clever, truth be told, she hadn't read many books. She never expected that this young man, a year younger than her, was about to become an author—and one specifically commissioned by the President himself, no less.
The table was piled high with food. The rabbit had boasted that he cooked it himself, but Cha Lun-hoo had clearly spotted a stack of delivery boxes. Still, it was impressive enough that he had taken the trouble to plate everything himself, so he didn't bother calling the fellow out.
"I'm just writing a few superfluous words, nothing to call myself an author for. I've only just started, but I'll send you a copy when it's finished."
Actually, once Reporter Chen put the team together, as long as he provided the framework, writing it would go very quickly. Besides, the length wasn't substantial; he estimated it could be wrapped up in a month or so. At the same time, he was looking for a publisher for himself. According to Reporter Chen, a high-profile figure like him should attract quite a bit of interest from publishing houses.
"Will it be adapted into a movie later? Can I play the female lead, Bae Suzy? Is there anyone more suitable than me? Who would be right to play Cha Lun-hoo?"
Suzy's face bloomed into a smile, and she even used her chopsticks to pick up a small spare rib for the man. Although it was said in jest, she genuinely hoped this fellow would find success in whatever field he chose. It wouldn't do for her to end up supporting some kept man—though she didn't care about the money anyway.
"What are you imagining? Play Bae Suzy? There is no Bae Suzy in my book; it ends right when I'm discharged from the military."
Even though the current momentum was good and the public felt nothing but sympathy for his stint working in a hostess bar, it was destined to remain something that couldn't be brought out into the open. Ending the autobiography with a young man navigating massive twists and turns as he stepped forward into an uncertain future seemed like the best possible conclusion.
While Suzy expressed extreme disappointment, she didn't seriously expect to play any Bae Suzy. After all, best-selling books adapted into films were few and far between, and every single one was a hot-button topic that sparked widespread societal debate—such as the upcoming *Kim Ji-young: Born 1982*, a work reflecting gender antagonism. A story about a poor kid changing his own fate, while interesting, was inevitably a bit cliché.
Recently, Suzy had participated in a fan signing event for the endorsed brand K2, which attracted a fair number of fans. Wearing those moving rabbit ears even turned into a viral moment online. In the 2018 Consumer Profile Survey by the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation, Suzy, despite having little exposure this year, was still voted the sixth "Favorite Advertising Model for Consumers," marking her sixth consecutive year on the list. She truly was a spokesperson deeply appreciated by many brands.
Lately, she had also snagged a tiny opportunity on the silver screen, taking on a role in the disaster film *Ashfall*. Her screen time was limited, but it was a star-studded cast, so something was better than nothing. Besides, she was idle anyway.
Drinking a glass of "Chamisul" soju, which she endorsed, Suzy was in a fantastic mood and asked if the man had any free time. She urgently needed some muscle, and saying it like that naturally implied she hoped Cha Lun-hoo would volunteer.
On the set of *Vagabond*, her scenes were coming to an end. She had personally paid for quite a few K2 down jackets from her endorsed brand to give as little gifts to the staff of the "Go Hae-ri" unit who handled her shooting schedule. Suzy's social savvy and adeptness in human relations were reflected in every aspect of her life, which was why almost everyone she worked with showered her with praise.
"I don't have any issues. I won't be joining the association to start work until the beginning of next year, so at least these next few days are clear. Are you planning to give them as Christmas gifts?"
The prolonged filming of *Vagabond* was finally drawing to a close. In the landscape of Korean dramas where simultaneous broadcasting and filming remained the mainstream, shooting all 24 episodes in one go was exceptionally rare. Suzy had mentioned that it was scheduled for release next May, meaning viewers would have to wait another half-year or so to enjoy it.
"Oh right, did you bring the military uniform I told you to bring? Go change into it right now and let me see! I want to see!"
Suzy's voice was dripping with aegyo as she acted coquettishly, and she even recreated the gesture of swirling a glass near her cheek from the Chamisul soju commercial. Even someone like Cha Lun-hoo, hardened by nights spent in nightlife establishments, couldn't withstand it. This woman really was a seductive sprite.
"You wear it for me and let me see! I like it! If you grant me one wish, I'll grant you one wish. Didn't you like the stockings I wore in *Vagabond*? That's only fair, right?"
Suzy rummaged through the fellow's backpack and found, sure enough, that he had been quite obedient. Yet he was still putting on airs in front of her. She'd show him—she was going to dig out every little secret hidden in his heart and let him know once and for all who the *noona* really was.
Cha Lun-hoo's weathered face flushed red. This girl was truly going too far, but he couldn't just spoil her like this, or else she'd start walking all over him. He quickly put on a stern, cold expression and flatly refused.
"You wretch, what do you take the Republic of Korea's soldiers for? I knew this little vixen wasn't a good person. Confess—are you a spy sent from the North? Our Defense Security Command specializes in dealing with you Northern puppets. I think you're asking for a beating with a bamboo stick."
Cha Lun-hoo's fierce words made the Gwangju native shrink her neck back a fraction. When filming the drama, she had played an NIS agent, so she naturally had some understanding of these government and military intelligence agencies. Combined with the man's cold expression, he did carry a certain majesty, and she actually found herself suppressed by his aura.
"I've been wronged! I'm not a spy! If you don't believe me, why don't you search my body? Come on!"
Spreading her arms wide and closing her eyes with an expression that invited him to do whatever he pleased, this little look completely disarmed Cha Lun-hoo, who had just threatened to torture the female agent. Seizing the opportunity instantly, Suzy wrapped her long arms around the man's neck.
"Your Defense Security Command is no good at all! You fell for a honeypot trap just like that. It would be a disaster if I really were a spy sent from the North. No wonder they fired you—I suppose it's because your willpower is too weak."
While smearing the man's professional integrity, the actress blew hot breaths against his neck, instantly sending Cha Lun-hoo's anger soaring. He hoisted the woman up into the air, using his core and arm strength to cup the backs of her knees with both hands, lifting her so she was kneeling and cradled right against his chest.
At that moment, Suzy appeared slightly superior as she cupped the man's face in both hands and lowered her pretty face. Any thoughts of military uniforms or lack thereof completely vanished; when passion reached its peak, such minor playful elements ceased to matter.
"You really are something! You act like one person in public and a total bad boy behind closed doors. On television, you look like an upright soldier, but behind the scenes, you're just a rascal."
Lifting her head, Suzy could feel the stringy trail of saliva connecting their lips, and she made Cha Lun-hoo feel the longing in her gaze. Sometimes this woman had an insatiable appetite for him, but he would make sure to show her the true meaning of ruthlessness.
Casually tossing aside the clothes Suzy had left scattered on the living room sofa, he deposited her right on top of it. A faint flush bloomed across Suzy's skin as she buried both hands deep into the man's hair, surrendering to the sensation of her body being completely taken over. Her rational side seemed to crumble away bit by bit in front of this man.
"Looks like you haven't danced in a long time. Your flexibility is still pretty lacking! You're from a girl group; you can't let your fundamentals slip."
Cha Lun-hoo offered his well-meaning advice. After all, one shouldn't forget their roots, and although this woman usually practiced Pilates, she had ultimately grown too accustomed to a life of luxury.
"Oh, go on with you! Why don't you go find Jessica Jung? Is her flexibility any good? At her age, you'll snap her old bones in half!"
