Mu Sihan squeezed his bloodshot eyes shut. When he opened them again, his expression was icy as he looked at Ivan, who was standing by the bed. "What is it?"

Ivan looked at Mu Sihan, whose presence was so cold and formidable that a single glance could strike terror into anyone. He said cautiously, "Young Master, the old Madam came over early this morning."

Mu Sihan rubbed his throbbing temples, tossed off the quilt, and stepped out of bed. "I’ll be down immediately."

"Young Master, the old Madam went to the guest wing."

Mu Sihan’s expression darkened instantly. Without even stopping to change out of his loungewear, he strode directly toward the guest wing.

As he reached the entryway, he heard the old Madam ask, "So, are you willing to leave Sihan and never contact him again?"

Mu Sihan’s tall frame went rigid.

He did not take another step, leaning one hand against the shoe cabinet while the other clenched into a tight fist.

How would she answer?

His deep, dark eyes were locked onto the living room, his thin lips pressed into a hard line, his jaw set in a chill.

If her answer didn't satisfy him, he would strangle her!

Nan Zhi remained silent for nearly a minute before she slowly began to speak. "Madam, I signed a contract with him. If he returns that contract to me, Xiao Kai and I will never appear before him again."

The hand Mu Sihan had resting on the shoe cabinet tightened abruptly, and the breath in his chest felt as though it were being squeezed out of him.

He closed his bloodshot eyes for a moment, then walked into the living room, radiating a piercing chill.

"Grandmother, she is merely my exclusive servant. Is she worth you coming all the way here to persuade her to leave?" Mu Sihan entered the living room with a gloomy face. His deep, dark eyes didn't look at Nan Zhi, but rested on the old Madam instead. "Before the contract expires, why should I grant her freedom?"

The old Madam was silent.

Nan Zhi was silent.

"Ivan, see the old Madam out." Mu Sihan’s facial features were taut, his voice cold. "Grandmother, rest assured, I have never thought of marrying this woman. She is not worth your concern."

The old Madam frowned. "Sihan, don't be so stubborn. You will end up hurting others and yourself."

"I know what I am doing. Grandmother, please go back and rest; I have my own sense of discretion."

After Ivan helped the old Madam leave, only Nan Zhi and Mu Sihan remained in the living room.

He was still in his loungewear, his presence commanding and sharp. His dark, short hair was slightly disheveled, and his sculpted, handsome face was cold and severe. The gaze he leveled at her emitted a frigid, ghostly light.

The atmosphere in the living room became instantly, suffocatingly tense.

Every line of his profile signaled that he was furious—truly enraged.

Nan Zhi did not feel she had done anything wrong. She hadn't signed that contract voluntarily; she had been forced into it by him.

What was wrong with wanting her freedom?

Mu Sihan moved toward Nan Zhi, his fury surging. Sensing danger, Nan Zhi stood up from the sofa and instinctively bolted toward the nearby kitchen.

Just as she was about to close the door, a large hand suddenly reached in.

She accidentally caught his hand in the door.

She felt the pain for him, yet his cold, dark face showed absolutely no expression.

With a powerful shove, he pushed the door open and forced his tall, cold frame inside.

Nan Zhi knew exactly how terrifying he could be when he lost his temper. She tried to bolt past him, but her wrist was suddenly seized. With a forceful tug, he slammed her against the wall, and immediately, his tall frame loomed over her.

The morning was now bright, with golden light streaming through the window. Their gazes and breaths intertwined, and even the air around them seemed to slow to a standstill.
