After placing a gentle kiss on the child's forehead, Nan Zhi wrapped herself in a thin blanket and lay down to sleep on the sofa.

The events of the evening had left her wide awake. Her neck still burned with a stinging pain; she fetched an ointment from the medicine box and carefully dabbed it over the bruises.

Lying on the sofa, the man's cold, dark eyes surfaced in her mind, making her shiver involuntarily.

That man with mania could not possibly be the one from that night four years ago, nor could he be little Kai's father! She must be mistaken.

Nan Zhi picked up her phone and opened Weibo.

While abroad, she had once unintentionally saved a renowned chef. During his convalescence, he had taught her much, and over time, their relationship grew into one of mentor and friend.

To support little Kai and her mother, two years ago she started a food blog account on Weibo—Sweet Delicacies. At first, she had few followers, but through her persistent effort of posting two homemade food videos each week, her popularity slowly grew.

Now, her followers had surpassed a million, and she earned a decent monthly income from it.

Last month, because little Kai was diagnosed with leukemia and she needed to arrange their return to the country, she hadn't posted anything for nearly a month.

Many loyal fans had been calling for her to return. Of course, there were also plenty of rival bloggers’ trolls causing trouble.

—A whole month without showing up; maybe the blogger was in a car accident?
—Since the account began, when has the blogger ever shown her face? I bet the only thing we’ve ever seen are those hands, right?
—It’s hard to imagine a woman with such delicate, fair hands having a face so ugly she’d hide it for two years, never showing up or attending any award events. She must be even uglier than a dinosaur!
Nan Zhi raised her eyebrows. Are dinosaurs really that ugly?

But, aside from the trolls, her loyal fans were equally vocal in her defense.

—Anyone talking bad about our Sweet is just jealous, obviously. Her hands are so fair and beautiful and ethereal; her looks can’t be that bad.
—Sweet isn’t like those showy, attention-seeking girls online. She’s low-key and mysterious!
—Exactly, we love Sweet and the food she makes.
—Sweet, our beauty, where have you been all month? When will you post again?
A smile played at the corners of Nan Zhi’s lips. Her slender fingers danced across the screen as she typed a line on Weibo.

[Spring in China is breathtaking, darlings. Sweet is well, and a new food video will be up tomorrow! Two flying kiss emojis.]

Shortly after posting, replies began to pour in.

—Sweet goddess, can’t wait for your new video! (attached a starry-eyed emoji)

In a lavish manor,

A devilishly handsome man lounged on the sofa, a hint of a smile at his lips. After leaving his comment, he tossed his phone on the coffee table and looked at the man sitting opposite him, who was smoking and watching the evening finance news.

“Fourth Brother, Sixth Brother’s goddess finally posted!”

Sixth Brother Ji Chuan was a rising star in the entertainment industry. While most people cared about faces and voices, he was obsessed with hands.

Ever since coming across Sweet’s videos, he’d been utterly captivated by those hands. So much so that, when the blogger stopped posting for a month, he’d flown abroad last week, worried something had happened.

But, after searching everywhere, he still hadn’t found her.

“There are so many beautiful women in showbiz who adore him, yet he’s smitten with a pair of hands he’s never even seen the face behind. What if she’s actually frightening to look at?”

Mu Sihan remained focused on the financial news, ignoring Lan Yanzhi.

Lan Yanzhi stared at Mu Sihan’s devastatingly handsome face for a few seconds before sighing in defeat. “Fourth Brother, is there nothing in your life besides news and work? The one time you take an interest in a woman, you nearly strangle her.”

“Shut up.”

Lan Yanzhi raised both hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright, I’ll keep quiet.”

After Lan Yanzhi went to the bathroom, Mu Sihan’s brows drew together, as if recalling something. He picked up the phone Lan Yanzhi had tossed on the sofa and opened Weibo.
