Chapter 76: The Domineering Man
Inside the private restaurant.
Dining and drinking with Fu Shaoxiu was the head of the project engineering department from a listed company in the imperial capital. Fu Shaoxiu sought to collaborate with them to develop a large-scale tourism and leisure resort in Ning City.
He had arranged several meetings with the company’s representative before they finally agreed to come to Ning City for an inspection.
Fu Shaoxiu had his assistant prepare the contract. After sharing a few drinks and calling the representative brother, he placed the contract before him.
“Mr. Fu, tonight we’re just here for drinks, not business,” the representative said, smiling as he patted Fu Shaoxiu’s shoulder.
Fu Shaoxiu cursed inwardly in annoyance. These guests had been in Ning City for days, and he had accompanied them every day, spending plenty of money, yet they still hadn’t given him a clear answer.
“Mr. Jiang, take a look at the contract first. If you partner with the Fu Group, we can offer you sixty percent of the profits…”
Mr. Jiang took the contract from Fu Shaoxiu, just about to examine it carefully, when the private room’s door was abruptly pushed open.
Fu Shaoxiu’s face darkened; he was ready to scold whoever barged in without knocking, only to look up and see the restaurant manager.
“Mr. Fu, I’m truly sorry, but you and your guest can no longer dine here,” the manager said, smiling apologetically but with a firm tone.
Fu Shaoxiu furrowed his brow, displeased as he stared at the manager. “I’m a member here. Do you not know how much membership fees I pay each year? Or do you think I can’t afford to dine here?”
What a joke—he was the eldest son of the Fu family, the head of the Fu Group. If he couldn’t afford to dine here, then this restaurant didn’t need to entertain anyone else.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Fu, but you’ve been placed on our blacklist. We’ll refund your membership fees at double the amount, and tonight’s meal is on the house.”
The truth was, the restaurant’s owner hardly lacked money. In fact, it was precisely because they had too much that they created this exclusive place for the upper echelon.
Fu Shaoxiu’s expression shifted repeatedly. It was the first time in Ning City he’d been placed on a blacklist.
And right in front of Mr. Jiang, which was nothing short of a slap in the face.
“You’re just a manager—where do you get the authority to blacklist me? Where is your boss?”
“Apologies, our boss is in the imperial capital.” The manager remained respectful but unyielding, unafraid even as Fu Shaoxiu’s expression turned sour. “If you won’t leave on your own, I’ll have to call security.”
Fu Shaoxiu couldn’t fathom who he might have offended. Could it be Nan Zhi? Had she complained to that elderly man who supported her?
No, Nan Zhi cared deeply about that diary and wouldn’t have reported him.
Mr. Jiang, seemingly embarrassed, didn’t spare a glance at the contract and left with his briefcase.
“Mr. Jiang, there must be some misunderstanding…” Fu Shaoxiu called after him, glaring coldly at the manager before leaving the room. “You just wait and see.”
…
The sports car sped down the road. After Nan Zhi rejected Mu Sihan’s request to eat her cooking for the third time, he began to drive recklessly.
Nan Zhi couldn’t take it anymore—her face pale, stomach uncomfortable—she surrendered, raising her hand. “If you eat my cooking, will you really stop bothering me?”
Mu Sihan arched a swordlike brow, glancing at her. “Cook first, then we’ll discuss terms.”
“Fine, fine. Donghua Garden Residential Complex.” The apartment Yanran had rented for her; since returning to Ning City, she hadn’t spent a single night there.
Arriving at the complex, Nan Zhi remembered the apartment was empty. She said to the man, “There’s only noodles. I’ll cook noodles for you—is that okay?”
He heard this and a wicked smile played across his handsome face. “Well, I didn’t expect you to be so bold. You’ll serve yourself to me?”
…
