Chapter 80: A Video Call Between Big and Small

When Mu Sihan saw the new friend request on WeChat, the profile picture showed a little kid in a baseball cap. His deep, dark eyes narrowed slightly. He accepted the request and was about to put his phone down to continue the meeting.

But in the next second, a video call came through.

Mu Sihan had no intention of answering during the meeting and went to decline it, but, as if bewitched, his finger hit accept instead.

Immediately, a delicate, rosy-cheeked little face appeared on the screen, staring at him with large, shining eyes. “Cool Uncle, long time no see! How have you been lately?”

The corner of Mu Sihan’s mouth twitched.

Long time no see? It had only been a few days.

The childish voice of the little one left Lan Yanzhi and the rest of the senior staff utterly stunned.

Their notoriously hot-tempered boss was actually video-chatting with a little kid? And during a meeting, no less? What’s more, there seemed to be the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the boss’s lips—was he actually smiling? Impossible! None of them had ever seen him smile before!

Who was this little one? The boss’s illegitimate child?

But they’d never heard of the boss having any romantic entanglements!

Several executives shot Lan Yanzhi pointed looks, urging him to satisfy their curiosity and find out who the child was.

Lan Yanzhi wanted to ask too, but if he interrupted Fourth Brother’s call with the kid right now, he’d probably get his head chopped off!

Still, the little one’s voice was so sweet—he really wanted to see what he looked like.

Noticing all the nosy glances, Mu Sihan’s expression turned cold and he barked, “Anyone whose proposal isn’t up to par, redo it. Any data issues—fix them immediately. Even the tiniest error is unacceptable. Otherwise, pack up and go home!”

With that, he ended the meeting.

Xiao Kai, seeing Mu Sihan lose his temper, blinked his big, dark eyes. “You’re so cool.”

Mu Sihan arched a sharp eyebrow, his tone icy. “You’re not afraid of me?”

“Of course I am, but I still think you’re really cool. But… do you ever yell at women?”

Mu Sihan snorted. With him, there was no distinction between men and women—he wasn’t the type to show mercy just because someone was delicate and pretty.

“I just have one question for you—do you think my beautiful Zhezhe is pretty? Do you want to protect her?”

Mu Sihan’s fathomless eyes narrowed a fraction. “Kid, are you trying to sell me on your mommy?”

Xiao Kai’s eyes widened in surprise. “You actually know who my beautiful Zhezhe is? Well, I guess handsome and cool uncles don’t usually like single moms, but there must be exceptions. I’ll help her look for someone else.”

He was about to end the video call when Mu Sihan, face dark, stopped him. “Kid, don’t hang up.”

Xiao Kai stuck out his tongue. “What do you want?”

“That silly woman… your mommy. Did someone pick on her again?”

“You’re not allowed to call my Zhezhe silly!” Xiao Kai glared at Mu Sihan, annoyed. “You don’t even like single moms, so whether or not Zhezhe gets bullied has nothing to do with you!”

“Kid, you’d better tell me right now what happened to your silly mommy, or I’ll head to the hospital myself.”

Xiao Kai actually wasn’t sure what had happened. He only knew that after Zhezhe got off the phone, she seemed upset and left in a hurry. “It was her ex-fiancé who called, then she went out.”

After finishing the video call with the kid, Mu Sihan, face gloomy, lit two cigars in succession, just about to head out when his phone rang again.

It was a call from Alvis.

“Mr. Mu, I’m flying out tonight. I just left the Hyatt and I see the driver you arranged for me… Huh? Miss Nan…”

Mu Sihan’s expression turned instantly grim. “Miss Nan? You saw Nan Zhi?”

“Yes, but she didn’t see me. She was heading towards the elevators.”
