Nan Zhi paused slightly as she got into the car.
The man had removed his suit jacket. His crisp white shirt was impeccably tailored, layered with a business vest that accentuated his cold, refined physique. A brooch on the vest shimmered with an elegant, aristocratic glow.
His long legs were slightly apart, his sitting posture reckless and unrestrained. Distinct knuckles rested on his knee, and a glimpse of an expensive watch could be seen at his cuff.
He had his eyes half-closed, head turned toward the car window. From Nan Zhi’s angle, she saw only his sculpted, prominent nose, the slightly pursed corner of his lips, and his handsome jawline.
Though only half his face was visible, it radiated an intense allure.
He was strikingly handsome, with a sharp, cold edge.
Nan Zhi, who had long lost faith in men, suddenly felt an urge to turn his face and see his features in full.
She pressed her red lips together, got in, and closed the door behind her.
As the car started again, Nan Zhi murmured a thank you.
The man in the backseat ignored her; Wei Lin, in the front, replied, “You’re welcome.”
Today, Nan Zhi wore a white chiffon blouse and a black skirt, her bare legs pale and slender. On her right side, her waist was soaked, the fabric clinging to her skin and outlining her graceful figure.
Her hair was tied in a low ponytail, her stunning face fully revealed, lips painted with lipstick, her complexion fair and clear. Seated there, she was an arresting sight.

Even Wei Lin, usually composed, glanced at Nan Zhi several times through the rearview mirror.
Yet the man beside her remained indifferent, maintaining his unruly posture with no regard for the beauty at his side.
Nan Zhi dabbed at the droplets on her skin with a tissue, her gaze catching the sharp lines of the man’s black trousers.
Though she hadn’t seen his whole face, the nose, lips, and contours felt strangely familiar.
Suddenly, she recalled the fleeting glimpse she’d had that morning four years ago, and chaos swept through her thoughts.
Could it be such a coincidence?
Nan Zhi’s gaze moved from his pant leg upward, passing over his strong chest and broad shoulders, finally settling on his habitually pursed lips.
Thin and austere, they held a cold arrogance.
Sometimes, when Nan Xiaokai was angry, she’d purse her lips in just the same way.
Nan Zhi unconsciously edged closer to the man.
Now, she could smell the crisp, cool masculine scent on him, tinged with a faint aroma of tobacco—rich and commanding, enough to stir any woman’s heart.
Nan Zhi had grown up in a wealthy family, accustomed to gentlemen and socialites. She never had much concept of “handsome.”

Now, she simply wanted to see what he truly looked like.
Her body inched closer still.
Only a hand’s breadth separated them.
Wei Lin glanced back through the internal mirror, saw Nan Zhi moving toward the man, and was so startled he jerked the car, slamming on the brakes in panic.
Nan Zhi, unprepared, lurched forward. Just as she was about to collide with the seat ahead, a cool, firm hand gripped her wrist.
Her skin was smooth, and in the instant the man held her wrist, she felt the faint calluses on his fingertips—dry, cool, with a sandpaper texture, sending a subtle tingle through her.
Once she regained her balance, he let go, never looking at her, his thin lips uttering a cold command: “Move over.”
