Wei Lin watched as the tall, imposing man entered a twenty-four-hour pharmacy. Not long after, he returned to the car.
“Mr. Mu, shall I take you back to the manor?” Wei Lin asked.
Mu Si Han's dark eyes were deep with thought as he looked at Wei Lin and asked, “Assistant Wei, when you’re intimate with a woman, do you ever leave marks on her?”
In the middle of the night, the boss was discussing something like this with him. Wei Lin coughed awkwardly and replied, somewhat embarrassed, “Mr. Mu, to be honest, I haven’t been with a woman before—but if it were someone I loved, I’d certainly leave traces of affection on her.”
Mu Si Han’s fathomless black eyes narrowed slightly. His handsome face, shifting between light and shadow from the car window, was inscrutable and profound.
If he remembered correctly, before he ravaged her, the woman’s skin was as pale as jade, smooth as fine silk, without a hint of any intimate traces.
He had just entered the pharmacy himself, checked the store’s surveillance, and discovered that what she bought in the morning wasn’t the contraceptives he and Lan Yan Zhi had assumed, but cold medicine.

The manager personally accompanied Mu Si Han. Hearing Mu Si Han’s request to review last night’s footage, he quickly explained, “I’m not sure what happened—the cameras weren’t broken, but the computer can’t find last night’s footage. I had someone check, and it looks like hackers breached the system. Thankfully, nothing happened last night, or else...”
Mu Si Han impatiently cut him off, “I’ll recover the data.”
The manager was surprised. “Mr. Mu, last night’s footage was deleted—it’s very difficult to restore—”
“As long as it’s a technical issue, I can handle it,” came the calm yet arrogant reply.
The manager watched as the handsome, stern man sat at the computer, his slender fingers flying across the keyboard. The data on the screen looked incomprehensible to the manager, like astronomical numbers.
He really didn’t understand—was there something important in last night’s surveillance?
Half an hour later, Mu Si Han found the footage he was looking for.

Nan Zhi didn’t know when she had fallen asleep. She was awakened by the crisp ringing of her phone.
She climbed out of bed, and as soon as her feet touched the floor, her legs went weak and she nearly collapsed.
Finding her phone on the shoe cabinet by the entrance, Nan Zhi saw that Aunt Zhou was calling, and a sense of foreboding instantly filled her heart.
After taking the call, Nan Zhi, regardless of her discomfort, hurried off to the hospital.

In the hospital room, Nan Zhi found Aunt Zhou, anxious and distraught.
“What happened to Xiao Kai?” Aunt Zhou had told her to rush to the hospital over the phone, but had been vague about what had happened.
On her way to the hospital, Nan Zhi called Xiao Kai’s phone, but no one answered.
Xiao Kai was Nan Zhi’s lifeblood. No matter how much hardship or humiliation she suffered over the years, seeing her precious child made everything worthwhile.
She couldn’t bear to imagine what she would do if anything happened to him.
Aunt Zhou, eyes red and swollen, explained, “I went to the cafeteria to get breakfast, and when I returned, Xiao Kai was gone. I thought he was off playing somewhere and waited in the room for over an hour. Later, I learned that someone took him away.”
“The nurses said that Xiao Kai was taken in a very luxurious car.”

A quick note: the male lead in this story is a pathological character, flawed in his nature—not the perfect CEO found in other novels.
Where has little Xiao Kai gone? No worries, the cohabitation arc is about to begin! And to those who feel the progress is slow, perhaps try other faster-paced stories. Our heroine is indeed slow to warm up!
