Fu Siyan’s expression grew suddenly colder. Lu Sinian hadn’t been explicit, but Fu Siyan had heard him clearly. The person coming here—the person Lu Sinian was interested in—could be none other than Mu Yinyin!

Fu Siyan’s gaze darkened further. As the elevator doors slowly slid shut, the two men heard the sharp click of high heels against the floor outside. Moments later, the closing doors were forced open again. A slender, graceful figure stepped inside.

The woman was dressed in a white casual tracksuit, a baseball cap pulled low over her head. Her long hair was tied into a high ponytail, revealing her exquisite, delicate face. She looked clean-cut and sharp. However, when she saw the two men inside the elevator, a flicker of obvious surprise crossed her features.

Ever since their divorce, why did they seem to be running into each other more and more often? Perhaps she hadn't realized it herself, but before the divorce, she had stayed home all day, not needing to pursue a career, while Fu Siyan never returned to that house, making encounters rare. But since the divorce, she had begun managing her own career and running the business, and since Fu Siyan was also constantly occupied with work, their paths naturally crossed more frequently.

As for Fu Siyan, the moment he saw Mu Yinyin, his expression darkened even further. He had assumed Lu Sinian was coming here for a business meeting, but as it turned out, it was to meet Mu Yinyin? Since he had already noticed that neither of them showed the slightest bit of surprise at seeing the other, it was clearly a prearranged meeting. He, on the other hand, had become the odd man out. The chilling intensity in Fu Siyan’s eyes was becoming impossible to hide.

After a moment’s hesitation, Mu Yinyin spoke up, “What a coincidence.”

Fu Siyan didn’t even glance at her, with no intention of replying. Yet, conscious of Lu Sinian’s watchful eyes nearby, he said in a low, heavy voice, “Why is CEO Mu here?”

Mu Yinyin was slightly taken aback. Fu Siyan’s mood clearly seemed foul. Others might not have noticed, but having been married to him for years, she could still read a portion of his temperament. To think he would actually answer her while in such a bad mood? Had the sun risen in the west? Mu Yinyin was almost flattered.

“I have a dinner meeting,” she replied, offering nothing more.

Fu Siyan’s expression darkened another shade. A dinner meeting? Wasn't this supposed to be a date with Lu Sinian? A dinner meeting?

The elevator doors finally shut completely. The three of them stood in the elevator in silence; the atmosphere was indescribably strange. Lu Sinian could sense the tension between the two, but he didn’t mind. When they reached the top floor, the doors opened again.

Fu Siyan didn't say another word, stepping out first. He seemed as though he didn't want to see the two behind him for a second longer; it was as if staying a moment more would drive him to strangle Mu Yinyin. Mu Yinyin raised an eyebrow, accustomed to his behavior, and remained silent.

Lu Sinian looked at her with a smile, “Let’s head out.”

“Alright.”

The two walked out together. From a distance, Mu Yinyin could still see Fu Siyan’s back. He never turned around, nor did he say another word. Mu Yinyin could feel that her presence had deeply displeased him. But why? She couldn't quite figure it out.

“What are you thinking about?” Lu Sinian’s voice pulled Mu Yinyin back to reality.

Mu Yinyin shook her head, “Nothing.”

Lu Sinian raised a brow slightly, as if he couldn't tell if she was hiding something, and spoke softly, “Once we go in, you don’t need to say much. Just leave the talking to me; don’t feel any unnecessary psychological burden.”

A wave of gratitude washed over Mu Yinyin. She nodded at him, “Sinian, thank you.”

Lu Sinian curled his lips into a smile, “Being polite with me again?”

Mu Yinyin smiled but didn't reply. Lu Sinian chuckled, “You don’t need to overcomplicate things. The fact that you saved my grandfather is enough for me to be eternally grateful to you. Yinyin, you never owe me anything; it is I who owe you, understand?”

In truth, Lu Sinian rarely said such things, but he didn't want Mu Yinyin to feel burdened or think that because he was helping her today, she owed him a massive favor.

Mu Yinyin’s eyelashes fluttered, but before she could speak, Lu Sinian added gently, “Besides, we are friends, aren't we?”

Friends.

His voice was soft as he emphasized the word, clearly trying to define their relationship to avoid causing her stress. Mu Yinyin’s gratitude deepened, and she eventually nodded, “Yes. We are friends.”

And business partners. She knew that Lu Sinian might be associating with her due to the potential benefits of her situation, but sometimes, after enough contact, one couldn't help but be touched by the other person’s character, and eventually, they truly become friends.

“Let’s go in.”

They reached the door of the private room. Mu Yinyin nodded and followed him inside.

Li Ze was already there. He was a thin, middle-aged man in a grey suit who looked remarkably young for his age, appearing not even thirty. He wasn't particularly handsome, and a prominent mole the size of a mung bean on his right cheek stood out.

He had been ready to greet them with a warm smile, but his expression faltered when he saw Mu Yinyin enter. “CEO Mu? Did you happen to enter the wrong room?”

However, just as he spoke, he noticed Lu Sinian behind her. Li Ze grew even more confused. Lu Sinian was there, but why had Mu Yinyin come? He was supposed to be discussing a partnership with CEO Lu today.

Mu Yinyin smiled, and Lu Sinian spoke up directly, “She is in the right place. I invited her.”

Li Ze was bewildered, but since Lu Sinian had said so—and he was the one seeking a favor—he couldn't argue. He smiled instantly, “I see! Please, both of you, have a seat. Take a look at what you’d like to order.”

Seeing them both sit down, he pushed the menu toward them. “You two order.”

A waiter had already been called in, and Lu Sinian pushed the menu toward Mu Yinyin, “Yinyin, see what you’d like to eat?”

His voice was exceptionally gentle. Although Lu Sinian was usually described as “gentle as jade,” in reality, he was a smiling tiger—cold and indifferent. He had never seen him care for anyone, let alone a woman. Yet, Li Ze could clearly feel how much he cared for Mu Yinyin.

Mu Yinyin didn't want to order, so she pushed the menu back to Lu Sinian, speaking naturally, “I’m easy. You order.”

With that, Mu Yinyin leaned back in her chair.
