Nan Shiqing was at a loss for words. For some reason, the simultaneous ringing of the phones made her feel like nothing more than an outsider.

The man was the first to answer. After listening to the caller, he rose and addressed her, “Shiqing, something urgent came up. I’ll come see you later.”

With that, he strode away in haste.

Mu Yinyin cast a cold glance at Nan Shiqing, who hadn’t even had time to speak to Fu Siyen, then turned to leave, answering her own call as she did.

“Darling, an urgent case just came in. Do you want to take it? It’s at Central Hospital.” The woman’s voice was full of charm—it was her best partner, Wan Yu.

“Who is it?”

“The chairman of the Lu Corporation has fallen seriously ill. They’re at their wits’ end and are offering a hefty sum for your help. Are you interested?”

Mu Yinyin—an elusive legend in the medical world, whose name and identity were known to none, only her ominous moniker: Lady of the Underworld.

After hearing Wan Yu describe the condition, Mu Yinyin replied, “I’ll take it. I’m heading up right now.”

For a patient of this stature, the operating suite would, without question, be on the top floor.

“You’re heading up? You’re already at the hospital?”

“Yes.”

She hung up and walked straight toward the elevator—not the public one, but the private lift reserved for special use.

Just as the doors were about to close, Mu Yinyin hurried forward and stepped inside.

She had been walking quickly behind, so naturally she saw Fu Siyen ahead, though it didn’t surprise her. Fu Corporation and Lu Corporation had always been closely linked; it was only normal for him to pay a visit.

But Fu Siyen’s expression darkened instantly. “Get out. Now.”

“And why should I?” Mu Yinyin’s smile was laced with irony. Fu Siyen’s gaze flickered for a moment, then he lost all patience. “I have no interest in playing your games. A woman as devious as you is unfit to be Mrs. Fu!”

Mu Yinyin’s lashes trembled slightly. So this was the man she’d loved for so many years. She really had been the punchline all along.

She knew he was still angry—still stinging from her humiliation of him that day. Suddenly, Mu Yinyin smiled sweetly at him. “President Fu’s skills, I daresay, leave much to be desired. Any thoughts I once entertained, I dare not have again.”

Fu Siyen actually laughed in exasperation.

But before he could retort, Mu Yinyin cut him off coldly, “Do you really think you’re still in a position to order me around as you once did? Fu Siyen, you’re not worthy.”

If she weren’t trying to avoid trouble, she would have slapped him right then and there.

In an instant, the temperature in the entire elevator seemed to drop.

Whether by chance or design, the elevator doors slid shut with a hiss.

Fu Siyen suddenly raised his hand, about to grab her by the throat, but Mu Yinyin’s petite form was astonishingly agile—she slipped effortlessly from his grasp. A flash of surprise crossed his eyes. She…?

He narrowed his gaze, withdrew his hand, and gave a chilly laugh. “I know exactly how shameless you can be, Mu Yinyin. I sincerely hope you’re not playing hard to get. If you sign the divorce papers without a fuss, I’ll let bygones be bygones.”

Mu Yinyin gazed at his handsome face, half smiling. “Rest assured, Mr. Fu. From this day forward, the two of us—”

Fu Siyen’s brow twitched violently.

And then her clear, confident voice rang out, “—will go our separate ways, each marrying as we please, with nothing more to do with one another.”

Fu Siyen’s pupils contracted, but the next moment he gave a cold laugh. “Let’s hope you keep your word.”

Mu Yinyin turned away, refusing to look at him again.

The moment the elevator doors slid open, both Fu Siyen and Mu Yinyin caught sight of a striking woman standing three or four meters away.

Wan Yu approached, dressed in a vivid red belted dress and twelve-centimeter heels, striding confidently toward Mu Yinyin.

“Hello, my darling.”

Fu Siyen frowned slightly, said nothing, and didn’t spare Mu Yinyin another glance as he walked out.

Mu Yinyin’s lips curled into a faint smile. Wan Yu never wore the same outfit twice; several rooms in her massive villa served as wardrobes. Today’s ensemble was particularly seductive, setting off her enchanting features and drawing countless admiring glances along the way.

Her oversized sunglasses made her skin seem even fairer.

Mu Yinyin looked at her and murmured, “Shall we go?”

“We need to wait ten minutes. They’re transferring the chairman’s bed.”

Mu Yinyin nodded.

Compared to Wan Yu’s elaborate attire, Mu Yinyin was much more casual, wearing a simple white dress, carrying a pale green handbag, her hair pulled back in a loose ponytail. It set off her delicate, palm-sized face. Even with Wan Yu beside her, she lost none of her own grace and beauty, and together they instantly became the focus of the entire terminal.

Wan Yu tossed her orange-brown curls and scrutinized Mu Yinyin with some concern. Noticing the fatigue beneath her eyes, only thinly veiled, Wan Yu frowned. “Did you not sleep?”

Mu Yinyin’s eyes flickered. She hadn’t slept a wink all night.

But she smiled lightly the next moment. “It’s fine. It won’t affect my work.”

Wan Yu whipped off her sunglasses and looked at Mu Yinyin, displeased. “That’s not the point. You’re a doctor—you should know what a toll lack of rest takes on the body.”

Wan Yu was like an elder sister, always looking after her.

Mu Yinyin felt a warm glow inside. In truth, apart from Fu Siyen, everything else in her life was wonderful. Why should she keep fixating on someone so unworthy?

She slipped her arm through Wan Yu’s, vowing as they walked together, “I promise, it won’t happen again.”

“Always ‘next time, next time.’” Wan Yu sighed. “Did you argue with him again?”

“No, and we never will again,” Mu Yinyin answered calmly.

“Huh?” Wan Yu was baffled. “He’s turned over a new leaf? I doubt it. And with Nan Shiqing in the picture… Is he really worth your affection? If you ask me, you should—”

Before Wan Yu could finish, Mu Yinyin tugged her lips into a smile. “Don’t worry. I’ve already signed the divorce agreement.”

Wan Yu’s eyes widened. She stopped in her tracks, staring at Mu Yinyin, poking her in the head. “Really? You, of all people, finally came to your senses?”

Mu Yinyin’s mouth twitched. “Let’s stick to business.”

Something occurred to Wan Yu, and she said, “Chairman Lu is actually a decent person. Making his acquaintance could open doors for your future.”

Mu Yinyin nodded, offering no further comment.

“The Lu Group, along with the Fu and Gu Groups, are known as the three giants of the country. And Chairman Lu has an outstanding grandson—every bit Fu Siyen’s equal,” Wan Yu added, winking at her. “He’ll definitely be there today. Why not consider him?”

Mu Yinyin pressed a hand to her forehead. “Business, Wan Yu. Business.”

Her friend had one great passion: matchmaking. No matter how unlikely the connection, she was always eager to play Cupid.

“I’m not even officially divorced yet, so don’t even think about it.”

She knew Wan Yu wasn’t just joking. If she so much as agreed, Wan Yu would actually go and make the introduction.

“Fine, I’ll wait until it’s official. Time’s up—let’s go.”

The long corridor was lined with over a dozen people, all closely connected to Chairman Lu, as well as two men in white coats, likely the hospital’s top administrators.

The first person Mu Yinyin saw was Fu Siyen, who happened to glance her way. His brows were furrowed, impatience clear in his eyes.
