Chapter 31: Never Misunderstand Your Sister
Nan Shiqing furrowed her brows, her eyes filled with nothing but worry.
"Mingming, I should be happy that things have turned out this way between them. Soon, they'll be divorced. After all, Fu Siyue has already given Mu Yinyin the divorce agreement, and Mu Yinyin has signed it too."
As she spoke, she lifted her gaze slightly to look at He Xia. "But I just can't feel at ease. Mu Yinyin suddenly changed completely—she's no longer the weak and easily bullied woman she used to be. Instead, she's become forceful, even able to hold Fu Siyue in check. I'm afraid Fu Siyue might..."
"You're overthinking it," He Xia said, smiling at her daughter. Seeing the complexity in Nan Shiqing's eyes, she continued, "If she still acted the way she used to and tried a few more tricks, she might have had a chance. But now? Do you think she still has any hope?"
"Hmm?" Nan Shiqing was clearly puzzled.
He Xia patted her daughter's shoulder, chuckling softly. "Men are always out there building their careers. Women, you could say, are just their accessories. As long as you always remember your place, you can win a man's heart. Besides, someone as outstanding as Fu Siyue—do you really think he'd let a woman walk all over him?"
Nan Shiqing's eyes brightened. "Mom, you mean..."
"What I mean is, Fu Siyue will never tolerate a domineering woman! Mu Yinyin probably thinks Fu Siyue disliked her before because she was too weak, so now she wants to forcefully change her personality. But she doesn't even realize how foolish she is. How could Fu Siyue possibly fall for her?"
"That does make sense!" Nan Shiqing's eyes grew even brighter. "And she somehow got herself a Ferrari. Is she trying to show Fu Siyue that she has other admirers?"
He Xia immediately let out a cold snort, her scorn obvious. "That was her stupidest move. She has no source of income, and I clearly told Fu Siyue I didn't buy her a car. So where did her car come from?"
"Obviously, some man gave it to her because of her looks!" Nan Shiqing scoffed, her excitement mounting. "She really is digging her own grave! Looks like she's run out of options and is making a desperate last attempt by doing the opposite!"
"Humph, someone like her is beyond redemption. She deserves whatever comes to her." He Xia spoke as she tapped open her phone—someone had messaged her, and she needed to reply, though it didn't stop her from talking. "Mu Yinyin has completely ruined herself now. Even if she clings on and refuses to divorce, do you think Fu Siyue will let her make a fool of him?"
"Hahaha... she's so stupid! She actually wants to use a Ferrari to show Fu Siyue she's in demand. Hahahaha... I'm starting to look forward to it—they might get divorced any day now!"
"When Fu Siyue saw that Ferrari the other day, he was truly furious. Tonight, at the old mansion, Mu Yinyin is probably playing her last card. I bet that old crone is out of ideas too."
The old crone.
They were referring to Liang Min.
Because Liang Min always sided with Mu Yinyin and wasn't fond of He Xia and her daughter, He Xia naturally had no pleasant words for her.
"Humph! No matter how that old crone argues, it's useless! Now that Fu Siyue knows Mu Yinyin is being unfaithful, he won't ever tolerate it! Mom, let's just wait for good news!"
A moment ago, she had still been worried, but now she was wildly excited.
After a pause, she spoke up directly, "Should I call Siyue?"
Her voice betrayed a hint of anticipation. "I've already thought of how I can stir things up."
"Are you going to talk to him about the Ferrari?" There was still a gentle smile at the corners of He Xia's mouth.
"Exactly!" Nan Shiqing was brimming with excitement. "Mom, don't say anything. I'm about to put on a show."
"Alright, it's up to you. But be careful—don't go too far."
"Don't worry. All these years, have I ever overstepped? To win over Fu Siyue, I've always been cautious. Rushing things only backfires. I understand that much." Nan Shiqing looked rather proud of herself, clearly satisfied.
He Xia nodded approvingly. "Good. My daughter is truly outstanding—just as I raised her to be."
The two women exchanged a smile before Nan Shiqing began to call Fu Siyue.
He answered quickly.
"Shiqing?"
Nan Shiqing immediately shed her earlier playful demeanor and spoke with concern, "Siyue, what are you doing right now?"
"Driving," Fu Siyue replied curtly, his tone flat.
But Nan Shiqing could sense that he was in a bad mood.
"I see... Well, is it convenient for you to talk now?" Her voice was cautious and fragile, like a porcelain doll that might shatter if not handled gently.
Her tone was so soft and delicate that it made one want to protect her.
"Car Bluetooth."
Nan Shiqing's eyes sparkled. She knew Fu Siyue wouldn't hang up on her. Then she continued, "So... is there anyone else with you?"
"No."
Nan Shiqing couldn't help but smile—luck was truly on her side! The timing and circumstances were perfect for her to sow discord. She took a quiet breath, carefully composed herself, and spoke again with a worried tone, "I... I heard something from my mother today. She said that a few days ago my sister was driving... a Ferrari."
Fu Siyue's eyes darkened, but he said nothing.
Even through the phone, Nan Shiqing could feel the oppressive atmosphere on his end, which thrilled her—she must have hit the mark!
She took a breath and, feigning anxiety, continued, "Siyue, please don't overthink it. The Ferrari might be something my sister bought with her savings over the years. She told me before that she loves Ferraris and wants to buy one someday. Siyue, please don't suspect that she has someone else. She's always been well-behaved and stayed at home."
Fu Siyue let out a cold laugh.
So Mu Yinyin had hidden things well. The identity of King Yan was something neither Nan Shiqing nor her mother knew.
This woman was scheming at every turn. How had he not seen how unlikeable Mu Yinyin was before?
Nan Shiqing grew more excited, believing Fu Siyue's cold laugh meant he didn't believe the excuse she had made for Mu Yinyin, and that he thought Mu Yinyin was being unfaithful.
She immediately gathered her emotions to add more strength, "All these years, my sister has put all her thoughts on you. She hardly ever went out, always trying to do what you like. Siyue, it's been so many years—maybe that incident really had nothing to do with my sister..."
As soon as she finished, Fu Siyue's eyes suddenly turned icy cold!
