A trace of irony flickered in Mu Yinyin’s eyes. She knew Fu Seye must think she was playing hard to get—signing the divorce papers so readily, only to chase after him here now.

The others in the room had turned their attention to them as well.

Old Master Lu’s assistant’s eyes lit up the moment he saw Wan Yu. He strode over quickly, speaking with barely contained excitement, “Sister Wan, you’re finally here!”

Sister Wan.

It wasn’t that Wan Yu was old—she was only twenty-eight. But within their circles, she was notorious for her decisiveness and commanding presence; everyone called her Sister Wan out of respect.

The crowd was momentarily stunned. Such a young and beautiful woman was actually Sister Wan? And who was the young girl standing beside her?

Fu Seye’s expression darkened visibly. Mu Yinyin and Wan Yu, together? Although Fu Seye and Mu Yinyin were married, they had never appeared together in public, and Mu Yinyin kept a low profile—so most people didn’t recognize her.

Wan Yu shook hands with the assistant and smiled. “I promised you I’d come, didn’t I?”

“Yes, yes! Thank you so much, you and Lord Yama are working so hard for us. But, um, Lord Yama...” The assistant faltered, unsure how to continue. Wan Yu’s presence was important, but Lord Yama was who they truly hoped to see. Why hadn’t she arrived yet?

But Lord Yama’s reputation was as elusive as a ghost. Few had laid eyes on her; the stories online were endless. Some claimed she was an elderly man, some a refined middle-aged gentleman, others insisted on a prodigy, and some said she didn’t exist at all.

The rumors unanimously agreed on one thing: Lord Yama was a man.

But those were only rumors—anyone who had ever met Mu Yinyin had promised never to reveal her identity. After all, no one wished to offend such a formidable doctor.

Wan Yu raised her brow with a smile. “She’s already here. I trust everything I asked you to prepare is ready?”

“She’s here?” The assistant was taken aback, as were those behind him.

Here? Where?

As everyone wondered, Wan Yu glanced meaningfully at Mu Yinyin.

Fu Seye’s pupils contracted sharply!

Everyone: ?!

Lord Yama?

This young girl—hardly more than a child—was Lord Yama?!

The assistant’s face paled. “Sister Wan, you’re not joking, are you?” He dared not voice his doubt for fear of offending them.

Wan Yu let out a short laugh. “Enough, do you think I’d joke about something like this? Hurry up—if we delay any longer, it might affect the old master’s condition.”

Now the assistant truly began to panic.

But he was certain this was indeed Wan Yu. After a moment’s hesitation, he nodded. “Alright, please come in.”

He was Old Master Lu’s assistant and confidant, someone with real authority in the Lu family. If he said it was alright, it was as reliable as it got.

In that instant, all eyes fell on Mu Yinyin. Her presence was dignified, her composure unshaken by the whispers around her. She didn’t mind the scrutiny. Once the assistant stepped aside, the two women proceeded directly ahead, heading to the changing room beside the operating theater to prepare and disinfect.

Fu Seye stood at the edge, his gaze clouded with darkness.

So it was true—he’d been vain to believe Mu Yinyin had come because of him. Now, this woman—his former wife—had become Lord Yama right before his eyes.

He wasn’t merely surprised; he was furious. This was the wife who’d claimed to love him.

Mu Yinyin seemed unaware of his reaction, simply walking ahead as usual. Slightly to her left stood an elegantly dressed young man in a blue suit.

He was handsome, with a gentle demeanor that made his gaze on Mu Yinyin seem anything but intrusive.

Wan Yu immediately took Mu Yinyin’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze—a clear signal.

Mu Yinyin paused internally.

She knew this man was Lu Sinian, the grandson of Old Master Lu and CEO of the Lu Corporation.

Just ahead was Fu Seye.

Mu Yinyin clearly felt the chill radiating from him, but her eyes flashed with sarcasm. She didn’t spare him a glance, striding past quickly.

Fu Seye’s lips pressed into a tight line as he watched her figure vanish from sight.

The corridor returned to its earlier group.

Lu Jieya, Old Master Lu’s eldest daughter, could no longer contain herself. She turned to the assistant and asked directly, “Assistant Meng, is she truly Lord Yama? She’s so young.”

Meng He nodded. “I am certain about Wan Yu. I’ve never met Lord Yama, but Wan Yu would never lie, especially not under these circumstances...”

They were out of options. If Lord Yama couldn’t help, no one could.

In an instant, everyone fell silent.

Though more than a dozen people filled the corridor, not even the sound of breathing could be heard.

Half an hour passed.

Wan Yu emerged.

All eyes turned to her, hope written plainly on their faces. Lu Jieya stepped forward urgently, “Sister Wan, my father... can he be saved?”

Wan Yu removed her sunglasses. No one dared breathe, but they all saw the hint of a smile in her eyes. The mood in the corridor tightened—she looked pleased. Was there hope?

Fu Seye narrowed his eyes, focusing on her intently.

Wan Yu nodded with a smile. “Our little Yama is here. Of course he can be saved. Don’t worry—surgery will be arranged right away. If everyone is agreeable, sign the consent and we’ll start. The old master can’t wait any longer.”

“He can be saved?!” Lu Jieya exclaimed.

Though seeking Lord Yama was their last hope, despair had already set in. They hadn’t dared expect a miracle. Yet now, salvation was possible!

Everyone was astounded, though two people’s faces still held hesitance.

Meng He looked to Lu Sinian. “President Lu.”

Just those two words—awaiting his decision. He dared not make the call himself.

Lu Sinian, though only twenty-seven, was the most authoritative person after the old master himself.

“Sign it,” he said.

Meng He nodded and set about the preparations.

Meanwhile, Fu Seye sat in a chair, his gaze as cold as a frozen lake.

Mu Yinyin.

Mu Yinyin.

Very well.

She was doing just fine.

Three hours later.

The light above the operating room was still on.

No one had left. Even Fu Seye remained, waiting.

Lu Sinian glanced at him, then sat down beside him. “You don’t have to wait here. If you’re tired, go rest.”

The Lu and Fu Corporations had a contract awaiting signature, but everything was delayed by this crisis.

When he heard the old master was critically ill, Fu Seye had come immediately. But who would have thought his ex-wife would give him such a shock?

“I’m not tired. I have nothing else to do today,” Fu Seye replied coolly.

He had no intention of leaving.

Not after seeing Mu Yinyin.

He wanted to witness the outcome with his own eyes.
