A faint smile played at the corners of Lu Sinian’s lips. “Well, since I’m back, I’m here to stay.” On the way over, he had already gotten the full story from Wan Yu.

Mu Yinyin pressed her lips together, not knowing what to say for a moment. The hospital room, though spacious, felt a little crowded with so many people inside.

Soon enough, Li Chuan returned with breakfast—he had bought plenty. Entering the room and seeing even more people present, he showed little reaction. Gu Xiaoqi immediately stepped forward to take part of what he was carrying, turning to everyone and announcing, “Come on, wash your hands and have breakfast!”

After setting things down, she picked up a portion and walked to Mu Yinyin. “Here, darling, let me feed you today!”

Mu Yinyin smiled faintly, “No need, I can manage myself.” As she tried to get up, a sharp pain made her frown, and Lu Sinian quickly approached.

“If you’re not well, don’t force yourself,” he said, his voice gentle yet tinged with helplessness. He then glanced at the porridge in Gu Xiaoqi’s hands and reached out. “Let me do it.”

“Huh?” Gu Xiaoqi was stunned, clearly not expecting Lu Sinian to say such a thing.

Wan Yu brightened instantly and spoke up, “Go on, Xiaoqi, hurry up and hand it to President Lu.”

Fu Siyue’s face darkened even more.

Nan Yushi turned and caught the displeasure in Fu Siyue’s eyes, his gaze fixed on the porridge in Gu Xiaoqi’s hands, envy and resentment flashing in her own. Clearly, Fu Siyue still cared about Mu Yinyin—why else would he be upset about who fed her? When Gu Xiaoqi had offered, he hadn’t reacted, but now he was visibly unhappy. Anyone could see what was going on—and she herself was so invested in this man!

“Hurry up, what are you standing there for? You’ve been up all night, go rest. President Lu was on a plane all night, but at least he could sleep; feeding my dear Yinyin some porridge isn’t much,” Wan Yu continued.

Lu Sinian raised his brows, a slight smile curving his lips. “Wan Yu’s right, I’m in good spirits. Let me take over.”

As he spoke, his hand had already taken the porridge from Gu Xiaoqi. She stood there, dazed, unable to snatch it back, her expression complicated as she glanced at Jiang Ling. Jiang Ling kept his head down, as if he hadn’t noticed. With a sigh, Gu Xiaoqi looked to Li Chuan for help, but he only shook his head and said nothing.

With that, Lu Sinian sat down beside Mu Yinyin’s hospital bed, porridge in his left hand and spoon in his right. He ladled a small portion, blew gently on it, and brought it to her lips.

“Eat something first,” he said, his voice so soft and tender that even Wan Yu felt she might swoon. With such an outstanding man, her little demoness ought to be moved.

Seeing Mu Yinyin hesitate to speak, Wan Yu’s face grew stern. “That’s right, Yinyin, you need to eat properly to recover. Otherwise, I won’t let you leave the hospital for two days, understand?”

Mu Yinyin was left speechless, torn between amusement and exasperation. She knew exactly what Wan Yu was up to. While the concern for her health was genuine, the matchmaking intent was even stronger.

Before she could protest further, Lu Sinian gently pressed the spoonful of porridge to her lips. “Eat a little first?” he coaxed softly.

With things at this point, she had no choice but to comply, opening her mouth as he fed her. Their movements were perfectly in sync.

Everyone in the room watched them—their expressions varied widely. Wan Yu looked on with the satisfaction of a future mother-in-law, while Fu Siyue sat in silence, his face dark as night. Jiang Ling, Li Chuan, and Gu Xiaoqi looked on with complex emotions, and that mother and daughter pair grew increasingly uncomfortable under Fu Siyue’s sullen gaze.

Breakfast passed in awkward silence, no one truly tasting their food.

Only after Mu Yinyin finished did Lu Sinian set the bowl aside and frown. “That wasn’t enough. You won’t recover quickly eating so little.”

Wan Yu chuckled. “You can feed her more in the future.”

Lu Sinian smiled, “You have a point.”

Gu Xiaoqi was at a loss for words. Honestly, if Yinyin were to marry anyone else, she’d still think Jiang Ling was the better choice. He’d liked Yinyin for years and treated her better than anyone else—she’d never seen a man give so much. They were a perfect match. This sudden arrival of Lu Sinian was baffling. She had no idea what Yinyin was thinking.

The atmosphere in the room grew more complicated. Wan Yu, seeing that it was getting late and Mu Yinyin was recovering well, spoke up, “Since it’s getting late and Yinyin’s condition is stable, there’s no need for all of us to stay. You all must have a lot of work to do. Why not let President Lu stay and take care of her?”

Gu Xiaoqi was baffled. Wasn’t President Lu supposed to be even busier? Wan Yu couldn’t make her intentions any clearer.

Lu Sinian nodded, “There’s nothing urgent at my company—my staff can handle things.”

Gu Xiaoqi was speechless. What was with this era? Everyone lied so easily and with a straight face.

Li Chuan said nothing.

Nan Yushi had no choice but to resign herself. Mu Yinyin was truly formidable—one man left, and another arrived to take his place. And Fu Siyue still couldn’t let her go. This woman was too successful by any measure.

At that moment, Nan Shiqing could have strangled Mu Yinyin, but she forced herself to remain composed and do nothing. She didn’t even dare pretend to be caring and offer to stay, knowing she’d only be rebuked. Better to say nothing and leave quickly.

Mu Yinyin could not help but twitch her lips. She shot Wan Yu a look before speaking again, “There’s no need. All of you should get back to work. I’ll have my assistant take care of me—I’ve already messaged her and she’s on her way now.”

It was clear to everyone that Mu Yinyin was refusing Lu Sinian’s advances.

“How can I be at ease like this?” Lu Sinian frowned, his disapproval unmistakable. He sat resolutely in the chair by her bedside, facing her and clearly not intending to leave.

Mu Yinyin shook her head again. “If you all stay, I’ll just feel restless. You’ve all got your own responsibilities, and having my assistant look after me puts me at ease. Please, go. There’s no need for you to stay.”
