Chapter 88: Perhaps I Have Truly Let Go
Mu Yinyin didn’t spare Nan Shiqing a glance, nor did she care about her expression. She simply offered President Guo a slight nod and said calmly, “After the surgery, follow my instructions. In a month, she’ll be as she once was.”
President Guo and his wife were utterly stunned!
But in the next moment, President Guo was so elated he seemed like a child. “Really?!”
Before Mu Yinyin could reply, the hospital director emerged with an expression of awe. “It’s a miracle! This is nothing short of a miracle!”
Everyone turned to him, especially President Guo, who seemed unable to contain himself. He blurted out anxiously, “What happened…?”
“Your mother is out of danger! If it had been me, or any other doctor, we might have thought—” The director paused, then, overcome with excitement, continued, “But in the hands of the Grandmaster, everything is different! She’s out of danger!”
He was so thrilled he was nearly incoherent. Though he had not been the one to save the patient, nor had the outcome anything to do with him, his excitement was palpable.
After all, though this illness was not terminal, it was considered incurable—a condition that confined one to home, simply waiting for the end.
But now…
The director could barely string his words together.
Nan Shiqing: “???”
What did that mean?
Had she heard wrong?
Was the director implying that Mu Yinyin’s medical skills were extraordinary, that she had worked a miracle?
Impossible!
How could that be?!
She didn’t believe it—she couldn’t accept it! She had spent every day with Mu Yinyin in the past; how could she have not known Mu Yinyin possessed such skills, let alone carry out such a critical treatment?
Still reeling, she was interrupted by President Guo’s excited voice.
“Is that so! My mother…” He had wanted to make sure, to ask again, but with the director’s words, what reason did he have to doubt? He was so moved he could hardly speak. “Thank you! Thank you so much!”
Mu Yinyin’s lips curved slightly. “It’s what I should do.”
She said nothing more, keeping her words few.
Just as Mu Yinyin was preparing to give a few final instructions and leave, Nan Shiqing finally snapped out of her daze. She hurried closer, somewhat shocked. “Sister, you… what is this now…”
Fu Siye lifted his eyes, glancing at them.
Mu Yinyin looked at Nan Shiqing with cool indifference. “Is there a problem?”
Her aloof demeanor filled Nan Shiqing with rage—she wanted to lash out with insults.
But…
She didn’t dare. She couldn’t, not with Fu Siye present; she couldn’t risk him misunderstanding her.
Taking a deep breath, Nan Shiqing quickly shook her head. “No… you go ahead with your work. I’ll talk to you later.”
Mu Yinyin no longer looked at her. Instead, she turned to President Guo, her expression calm. “President Guo, before I saved your mother, I mentioned a request. You haven’t forgotten, have you?”
President Guo’s expression flickered.
He had been thinking about this, especially after seeing the way Nan Shiqing and Mu Yinyin interacted and learning about the incident at Old Madam Lu’s birthday banquet. He didn’t think the request was excessive.
Still…
He hadn’t expected Mu Yinyin to bring it up again.
The moment he realized Mu Yinyin was the legendary Yama, he’d nearly had his eyes pop out in shock. After several confirmations, he’d gradually accepted the truth.
Now, with his mother’s condition improved, he couldn’t have been happier.
Without hesitation, he nodded. “Rest assured, I will keep my promise. The Guo family will never cooperate with the Mu family!”
Nan Shiqing: “...!”
That wretch, Mu Yinyin!
Wasn’t this too much?
Must she make such demands even after saving someone?
Mu Yinyin’s lips curled. “Very well.”
She then proceeded to explain all the matters needing attention for the old lady’s recovery. President Guo listened attentively, bowing repeatedly, nearly kneeling before Mu Yinyin in gratitude.
President Guo was known for his filial piety, and everyone knew how important his mother was to him.
Having said all she needed, Mu Yinyin had no desire to linger. As she caught Fu Siye’s cold, unblinking gaze, she acted as though she hadn’t noticed, turning to leave with measured steps.
Fu Siye’s face grew even darker.
Nan Shiqing felt as if her face had turned green and purple with humiliation. In front of so many people, she had been embarrassed once again, all thanks to Mu Yinyin!
That wretch!
That wretch!
That wretch!!!
She was about to lose her mind from anger, desperate to strangle Mu Yinyin then and there.
“Sister…” Nan Shiqing hurried after her, anxiety in her voice. “Sister, you must have misunderstood me, I…”
But before she could finish, she raised a hand to her temple and began gasping for breath, as if she were suffocating. Fu Siye’s eyes narrowed instantly and he rose to his feet, just as Nan Shiqing collapsed backward…
Fu Siye caught her immediately, and the nearby staff rushed to help, preventing her from hitting the ground.
“Miss Nan!” someone shouted in alarm, concern evident in their voice.
Mu Yinyin turned her head to see Nan Shiqing’s performance, her eyes filled with cold amusement.
Unable to resolve the situation, Nan Shiqing was once again using a fainting spell to win Fu Siye’s sympathy—this had become her routine.
A flash of mockery passed through Mu Yinyin’s eyes. She ignored Fu Siye’s icy gaze and left with poise.
Fu Siye’s expression grew even more severe. He ordered in a low voice, “Take her for examination at once.”
The director, well aware of Fu Siye’s identity, dared not hesitate and immediately instructed the staff to act.
Just like that, Nan Shiqing was carried away once more.
Nan Shiqing seethed inwardly. Why—why hadn’t Fu Siye embraced her just now, only holding her arm? She had calculated the angle perfectly: if she fell just a little forward, she could have landed in his arms, making Mu Yinyin even more upset.
But…
He actually refused to have any unnecessary contact with her, leaving the nurses to carry her away.
But since she had to feign unconsciousness, she could do nothing else for now.
At that moment—
Mu Yinyin had already changed clothes and left the hospital.
Standing outside in the bright morning air, she lifted the corners of her lips. A new day brings new possibilities, and her mood was lighter.
Just a while ago, upon seeing Fu Siye, she realized she felt no particular agitation anymore. Even witnessing the ambiguous intimacy between the two of them, she felt nothing. It seemed she had truly let go.
The sarcasm at the corners of Mu Yinyin’s lips deepened as she took her bag and headed toward the underground parking lot.
