Chapter 93: Aren’t They My Life-Saving Benefactor?
The man’s expression grew uglier by the second. “Nonsense! You’re slandering me!”
Mu Yun raised an eyebrow, too weary to bother with him any longer. She merely looked at the others and said with effortless composure, “What I just said, I hope everyone takes to heart. The mole in this company—I will find them, and I will show them no mercy.”
His face seemed to darken further, but if he argued now, it would only make everyone suspect him. So he let out a cold snort and said nothing more.
After that, the meeting had nothing else to discuss.
Mu Yun ended it there.
As everyone filed out, several shareholders on good terms gathered together, unable to resist talking about what she had said.
Some felt she was making a mountain out of a molehill. Others thought she was right. They too had sensed that, although the company had not suffered any major trouble, certain minor details suggested the mole was probably behind them and was simply too wary to act further for the time being.
Amid all the discussion, everyone returned to their offices.
As for Mu Yun...
She did not remain at the company. Instead, following the time previously agreed upon with Fu Siye, she went to the Fu Group.
Now that the partnership had been signed, the specific matters had to be discussed in greater depth.
She had freed up these past two days, and Fu Siye had arranged his schedule as well. It happened that both of them were available today.
And as for the Fu Group... since they were the major shareholder involved, the Fu Group would be contributing more money and effort to the project overall. Naturally, Mu Yun had to make the trip there herself to discuss things.
An hour later.
At the entrance of the Fu Group, Mu Yun arrived.
This time, she did not bother speaking to the front desk. Her appointment had already been made in advance, and the moment the receptionist saw her, she said, “Ms. Mu, you’re here. President Fu said you can go up directly.”
Mu Yun nodded. “All right.”
And so she quickly went up to the top floor and headed straight for Fu Siye’s office.
At the door, she knocked lightly.
“President Fu.”
Just those two words—her voice cool, detached, and quiet, without any excess.
“Come in.”
The man’s voice was just as icy. Though they had once been the closest of intimates, now it sounded so... distant.
Mu Yun felt nothing at all. In fact, she thought this was best. Since they had already separated, there was no need to keep thinking of the past.
The only thing that mattered was this layer of cooperation between them. Nothing else was necessary.
Mu Yun pushed the door open and went in, only to find Fu Siye seated behind his desk, his head still lowered, clearly unwilling to spare her even a glance.
Mu Yun did not take offense. She closed the door and walked to the desk, taking the chair opposite him before speaking calmly, “Can we begin discussing it now?”
Fu Siye lifted his gaze to look at her and said in a low voice, “Yes.”
Yet his expression remained cold, and his attitude toward Mu Yun... was far from warm.
Because the life Mu Yun was living now was so good, it made him increasingly feel that she had been deceiving him all along.
He had married a liar and lived with her for three years.
That made him extremely displeased.
Of course, Mu Yun had no idea what he was thinking, and even if she had, she would not have cared. She merely placed a folder on the desk and slid it toward him. “Take a look. This is the preliminary plan. If there are no problems, we can discuss the rest afterward.”
Fu Siye said nothing and picked up the folder.
When it came to business, Fu Siye did not mix in personal feelings. He studied it very carefully.
Five minutes later, he set the folder down.
Mu Yun lifted her eyes and looked at him, waiting for his response.
Fu Siye frowned slightly, and his cool, magnetic voice sounded again.
“The preliminary plan looks acceptable for now, but there are a few points in the middle that I need to clarify with you.”
Mu Yun nodded. “Go ahead.”
Very quickly, the two of them entered into a proper exchange.
When it came to the details of the work, both were highly serious, with no extraneous emotion at all.
And at this moment, in both of their hearts...
There was appreciation for the other.
Mu Yun raised her gaze slightly, looking at the person before her. In the past, she and Fu Siye had never involved each other in work matters, because she had believed that once married, she should take care of matters at home and let him go out and make his mark.
But now...
This was the first time she had spoken to Fu Siye in this way.
In fact...
The exchanges of these three years combined did not seem to equal what they had spoken today.
At the very least, Fu Siye was looking at her properly. At the very least, Fu Siye was accepting her opinions. At the very least, Fu Siye was willing to speak with her...
One after another, these things made Mu Yun feel a trace of irony in her heart.
As for Fu Siye...
His gaze also rested on Mu Yun. His expression remained cold and indifferent, yet in the depths of his eyes there was a careful appraisal of this woman.
The current Mu Yun was truly different—so different that she felt unfamiliar to him.
She could discuss such a difficult matter with him with ease, her mind so nimble that it made him feel...
Fu Siye’s eyes darkened slightly as he cast away distracting thoughts.
And so, the two of them spoke for a full two hours.
The provisional plan was nearly settled, with only a little more left before it could be concluded.
However, just as they were about to continue, Fu Siye’s phone suddenly rang.
His phone was lying on the desk. Mu Yun was seated across from him, but with only a glance, she saw the string of numbers on the caller ID.
She and Fu Siye had one habit in common: they never saved anyone’s phone number, because neither of them ever forgot a face—or a number.
And she knew exactly who the caller was from those digits.
A faint smile hung at the corner of Mu Yun’s lips. It looked perfectly ordinary, but Fu Siye could clearly sense the irony in it.
Then Mu Yun spoke lightly. “We’ve practically finished discussing today’s matters. The rest can be implemented as planned. If President Fu is busy, we can talk another day. After all... we shouldn’t delay your important business.”
When she said the last sentence, the curve of her lips carried a distinct edge of mockery.
Fu Siye’s face instantly darkened.
Seeing that Mu Yun seemed ready to leave at any moment, he abruptly ended the call and looked at her with sharp, piercing eyes. “Is this what Ms. Mu calls a professional attitude?”
Mu Yun: “?”
A flash of surprise crossed her eyes. Had this man just lashed out at her?
Mu Yun let out a soft laugh. “I thought that in President Fu’s eyes, while work is important, loyalty and gratitude matter even more. After all, she is your—”
She paused deliberately, then continued with a smile that was not quite a smile, “life-saving benefactor, isn’t she?”
She spoke those words very softly, as though she were making a perfectly ordinary remark.
But Fu Siye’s expression only grew even uglier.
