Chapter 151: Ambush
Inside the warehouse gate, the people sensed the commotion outside and surged out in a rush. Ye Xin’s gaze sharpened; among the crowd stood a towering giant over two meters tall who stood out conspicuously. Surrounding him were warriors clad in black, their faces covered, clearly positioning the giant as their leader.
The giant caught sight of Ye Xin and the Godslayer Blade in his hand, then let out a deep voice: "Ye Xin?!"
It was no longer a secret that Ye Xin was the commander of the Heaven's Crime Battalion, and the Godslayer Blade had become legendary. Though it appeared light and thin, it weighed over a thousand jin—ordinary warriors couldn’t even lift it, let alone wield it. When Ye Xin channeled his primal energy, the blade emitted a dazzling azure glow, with visible gleaming thorns. Seeing the blade, the giant immediately recognized Ye Xin’s identity.
A cold sneer curled Ye Xin’s lips as the blade’s light danced around him like a whirlwind. His steps did not falter; he swiftly closed in on the giant.
“Alone?” The giant glanced around, then laughed uproariously. He tore off his headscarf, revealing his true face. “Ye Xin, oh Ye Xin, you really dare to defy all the heroes of the world? Do you think that possessing the strength of a Supreme General makes you invincible?”
Ye Xin remained silent, pressing forward relentlessly. The warriors in black were no match for his fierce blade; where the azure glow passed, bodies fell in heaps, severed by the sword’s lethal arc.
“Retreat! This brat is mine!” the giant roared, stepping back two paces and grabbing a pillar from the ground behind him.
Ye Xin was momentarily taken aback. He had noticed the pillar lying across the warehouse gate, assuming it was merely structural support. He never imagined it was a weapon.
The black-clad warriors immediately fled toward the rear of the warehouse. Their mission was to steal from the royal treasury, and now that Ye Xin had disrupted them, the entire kingdom of David would come down upon them without mercy. Though reluctant, they had no choice but to withdraw swiftly.
The giant raised the pillar with one hand, pointing it at Ye Xin. The pillar shimmered with a metallic luster.
In truth, it was a weapon resembling an iron mace, about a zhang in length, as thick as a thigh. Compared to a copper club marked with runes, it was like a toothpick. The giant wielded it effortlessly with one hand, demonstrating immense brute strength—likely thousands of jin.
“The entire kingdom of David is full of cowards, allowing a brat like you to become famous. Today, I’ll show you what a true general of the world looks like!” The giant’s grin turned savage. In the next instant, a violent surge of primal energy exploded outward. He leapt forward, the giant mace whirling like a lightning strike aimed at Ye Xin’s chest.
A spectral rhino enveloped the giant’s form, its light vaporous, as if a real rhino were charging at Ye Xin. A deadly move! Supreme General!
Despite his strength, Ye Xin dared not face it head-on. He flipped the Godslayer Blade and swung it from the flank toward the spectral rhino.
Boom! The rhino’s image shattered under the slash, but the recoil was immense; Ye Xin staggered back over ten paces, slamming heavily against the mansion gate, which creaked and cracked as if about to collapse.
Ye Xin gasped inwardly. Though he had not unleashed his full strength, he had broken through a barrier, becoming a true cultivator. Yet, he could barely withstand such a formidable impact.
For an opponent of Supreme General caliber, refining a deadly move to perfection could allow one to leap and kill cultivators in a single strike. This was not uncommon. Yet Ye Xin had never seen Xiao Mo truly unleash his power—he did not count. Others like Zhuang Buxiu, Yu Dao, Wei Juan, and Guan Hanyu seemed unable to reach such heights with their techniques.
Today, Ye Xin truly witnessed a perfected deadly move. Its speed was lightning-fast, and its peak power was beyond mortal strength.
Could it be that under Zong Bieli’s command, there were such heroes? Perhaps… he had already obtained the Flower of Doom and refined the Dao-Verification Pill? Otherwise, why would such a man obey him?
“The Heaven’s Crime Godslayer is nothing special,” the giant sneered, his terrifying grin widening. “Now, do you know who I am?”
“No,” Ye Xin smiled, his pupils narrowing to pinpoints.
“That’s good.” The giant raised his mace again.
This time, Ye Xin moved first, launching the first form of the Greedy Wolf Combat Technique—the Thunder Strike.
In an instant, Ye Xin closed the distance, thrusting the Godslayer Blade fiercely forward. The giant stepped back at an astonishing speed for his size, narrowly evading the blade, then swung his mace down, striking the blade.
Ye Xin’s second form was supposed to be the Overturned Mountains and Rivers, but just as he began to channel energy, the attack angle was blocked by the mace.
Boom! The blade’s hilt bent into an arc, the edge plunged deep into the ground. Luckily, the Godslayer Blade’s special material prevented damage—any other weapon would have shattered.
The giant stepped forward and swept the mace horizontally toward Ye Xin again. A gigantic white rhino appeared once more—a deadly move.
Ye Xin was surprised by how frequently the giant could unleash these techniques. His blade was trapped in dirt; he had no time to draw it. In the giant’s eyes, Ye Xin’s only choice was to abandon his blade.
However, Ye Xin had endured countless trials of overcoming stronger foes in the Heaven’s Crime Battalion, a cannon fodder unit where ordinary grunts never sought glory—the battles were always life or death.
Ye Xin suddenly leaned back as if blown over by a powerful gust, still clutching the Godslayer Blade.
A roaring wind passed above him, then with a flick of his toe, he caught the blade’s hilt. Using his foot as a fulcrum and his right hand as a lever, he yanked the blade from the earth, slashing fiercely at the giant’s abdomen.
This strike was not part of the Greedy Wolf Combat Technique, but its angle was cunning; had the giant reacted slightly slower, his vital parts would have been lost.
The giant’s eyes widened in alarm as he staggered back, narrowly avoiding the blade.
“You son of a—” The giant roared in fury. After dodging the blade, he charged forward, bringing the mace down with crushing force like Mount Tai.
Ye Xin saw a massive rhino pressing down from above, its terrifying power enough to pulverize him instantly.
He rolled aside just in time. The giant not only had immense strength but incredible speed. As he rose, the rhino slammed into the ground, shaking the earth violently, causing a roar of wind that rang in Ye Xin’s ears.
Life-and-death battles test not just skill but willpower. Others might have been crushed by the giant’s overwhelming aura, succumbing to despair and seeking retreat—thus losing the fight.
Ye Xin was different. Two years of hardship in the Heaven’s Crime Battalion had forged his resolve; before battle, he might seek other means, even compromise. But at the critical moment, no one could force him to falter or yield.
Newly free from immediate danger, Ye Xin lunged forward again and fell to the ground. The blade’s light skimmed the earth as he sliced at the giant’s ankle.
Ye Xin’s attack angle was unusual. Instinctively, anyone threatened at their feet would retreat rather than block. The giant was no different, stepping back to avoid the blade, but Ye Xin spun on the ground like a top, slashing repeatedly at the giant’s ankles.
At over two meters tall, the giant struggled to deal with such low, rolling strikes. Each time he raised his mace to counterattack, Ye Xin’s blades arrived first, forcing him to retreat again and again.
The rapid, dense blade strikes nearly formed a whirlwind. The giant finally faltered slightly; a slash tore a gap in his boot, fresh blood oozing out.
His expression darkened as he withdrew several steps, leaving the fray. Then, leaping onto the warehouse gate, he surveyed Ye Xin with a heavy gaze.
“Looks like he was right… Ye Xin, we will meet again!”
“Exhausted already? Trying to run so soon?” Ye Xin sneered.
“What?” The giant paused, then burst into laughter. He wanted to say more but found Ye Xin’s sharp gaze piercing through the darkness, as if seeing into his very soul.
“Your legs are trembling, your forehead beads with cold sweat. Even from this distance, I can smell it. Your breath falters too,” Ye Xin said calmly. “Your combat technique is unique, burning all your primal energy in a short time. Too bad… you couldn’t kill me. If you die, it will be by your own hand.”
“Really? Heh heh…” The giant laughed oddly. “Ye Xin, come and try again.”
Ye Xin looked up at the sky, where dark clouds swirled into a vortex resembling an eye.
“Try all you want,” Ye Xin smiled.
Then he surged forward, executing the fourth form of the Greedy Wolf Combat Technique—the Instant Slash.
The blade carved a brilliant azure arc through the air, aimed at the giant’s head. But as Ye Xin leapt mid-air, he noticed a figure crouching by the giant’s feet, clad entirely in black, blending into the shadows. Seeing Ye Xin airborne, the figure’s exposed eyes brimmed with scorn, and twin daggers gleamed in their hands.
