Chapter 43: The Wind-Chasing Youth, Yao Da-Pao
“Yao the Cannon, you blockhead!”
When Yang Hao’s voice rang out, the viewers in the stream were utterly confused.
But as they watched the next moment unfold, Yang Hao’s meaning became crystal clear.
On screen, a jeep was driving toward Yang Hao and Lin Zijin. Suddenly, someone leaned out of the vehicle, wielding a submachine gun, and a burst of fire spat from the muzzle.
Ratatatat!
A hail of bullets tore toward the unarmed Yang Hao and Lin Zijin, their health bars dropping furiously.
Then, several people leaped out of the jeep, chasing the fleeing Yang Hao and Lin Zijin, wildly swinging at them.
Seeing this, the driver hastily stopped the car and bolted in their direction.
Moments later, Zhu Ziyuan, who had been hurrying over, arrived just in time to see three teammates boxed up on the ground. The attackers, spotting Zhu Ziyuan as well, immediately charged at him.
Before long, Zhu Ziyuan, the last survivor, also turned into another loot box.
Witnessing this, everyone was stunned, faces twitching uncontrollably.
What the hell, is this for real?
The goddess got boxed as soon as she hit the ground—this was a first for them.
“Yao the Cannon, you idiot.”
“You moron!”
As the game-over screen appeared, two voices of reproach echoed in the stream.
Yet, just as everyone expected a heartfelt apology, a shameless voice piped up.
“Haozi, you were the one who called me over. How can you blame me?”
Yao Cheng’s tone was infuriating, and it wasn’t just Yang Hao and his friends—even the livestream viewers wanted to smack him.
Sabotaging the team and still acting justified?
“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” Yang Hao was speechless at Yao Cheng’s words.
“Heh, we’re brothers—if we’re dying, we die together! Sharing hardship is what matters!” Yao Cheng’s cheeky reply made the audience grit their teeth in frustration.
So he really did it on purpose?
“Damn, my forty-meter machete can’t stay sheathed—anyone want to give me a hand?”
“This guy is such a troll! I can’t stand it…”
“Help me out—my great-uncle’s coffin lid just popped open!”
“Second Battalion Commander, bring up my howitzer and blast that guy to kingdom come!”
“This dude is incredible! I’m honestly impressed!”
“If I ever got a teammate like that, I’d chase him down three blocks with my cleaver.”
Back in the team lobby, the audience was torn between laughter and exasperation as they watched the four regroup. Yao Cheng’s antics were infuriating yet oddly entertaining—so ridiculous that they left everyone at a loss for words.
Still, thinking back to what just happened, nobody could help but laugh.
Unbelievable—who knew you could play the game like this?
Truly eye-opening!
As they returned to the pre-game plaza, they couldn’t help but think about the earlier chaos every time they glanced at the screen, grinning so hard their faces nearly cramped.
Who would have thought that the guy the Prankster invited was just as much of a clown?
One joker in the stream was enough, but now there were two.
Jokesters are rare, and now there were two at once—the audience couldn’t imagine what could happen next.
Suddenly, the scene shifted, and a plane soared across the sky.
“Where are we dropping?” Lin Zijin’s voice came through the headset, making Yang Hao pause.
He checked the flight path: the plane started at N Port in the map’s lower right, passed over the airport, and would finish near the lower district of G Port.
With this route, Yang Hao’s usual choices were the airport, bunker, prison, P City, school, G Port, and the upper or lower districts.
After a moment’s thought, he said, “Let’s go to the school.”
Lin Zijin said nothing, which meant she agreed. Yao Cheng and Zhu Ziyuan naturally had no objections.
As they parachuted toward the school, Yang Hao’s sharp eyes spotted another squad heading their way, while the nearby staff dorms were deserted.
He quickly changed his mind, directing the team to the staff dorms instead.
The other squad probably saw them as well, so they needed to loot quickly, gear up, and decide whether to attack or play defense.
The dormitory complex consisted of six main buildings, a red building, a restroom, and two walls that could serve as cover.
Buildings 1, 2, 5, and 6 all had rooftop access with stairways, allowing players to land directly on the roof and enter from there.
All these rooftops could be vaulted or jumped from to the central balconies without taking damage—ideal for a quick escape if you dropped without a gun.
But since Yang Hao’s team had the place to themselves, there was no need for that.
With no competition, each of the four picked a building to loot. The dorms weren’t exactly rich in resources, but there was more than enough to outfit a four-man squad.
After sweeping one building, Yang Hao was kitted out in a standard level-2 set: backpack, vest, and helmet. He carried a SCAR-L, an UMP9 on his back, some drinks and bandages, a first-aid kit, two smoke grenades, a flashbang, and a frag grenade.
He even found a 4x scope, which he intended to give to Lin Zijin.
The only disappointment was not finding a 98K sniper rifle—devastating in the right hands. Paired with a 4x scope, it would be the perfect gift for Lin Zijin.
In the absence of an AWM or M24, the 98K was always Lin Zijin’s favorite.
Plenty of people spoil their wives, but spoiling her even in-game—Yang Hao truly took it to another level.
“Hahaha, I finally found a gas can!”
At that moment, a voice rang out, leaving the viewers momentarily stunned.
“Seriously? He’s that excited over a gas can?”
“Bring me my AWM and ghillie suit—let’s show this guy what’s what.”
“Gas is the most useless thing in the whole game. Even if you drive from start to finish, you probably won’t empty the tank.”
“Bro, you never need gas in this game!”
“What’s gas? I’ve never even bothered to pick it up!”
Naturally, it was Yao Cheng speaking. His words drew plenty of ridicule, and even Yang Hao couldn’t help but twitch at the sound.
Was this guy about to go off the rails again?
Sure enough!
When Yang Hao glanced his way, his eyelids twitched.
The guy was at it again!
“Guys, I’m off for a joyride. You keep playing!”
Moments later, Yao Cheng’s voice came again, accompanied by the roar of a motorcycle.
Lin Zijin shifted her camera to check his position—sure enough, he was already riding off on a two-wheeled motorbike, disappearing down the road.
The viewers, of course, saw it all.
“Damn, this guy…”
“Is he the wind-chasing kid?”
“Pfft, is he always this cheeky?”
“Bro, this is a battle royale! A battle royale! Not a racing game!”
“People like this drive me crazy! You chase them across half the map, finally kill them, and all you get is two gas cans!”
“If you’re not here to race, what’s the point of playing?”
“Big shout-out to the wind-chaser!”
