The counterattack had begun.

Yang Hao and Zhu Ziyuan manned their rifles from the rear, while Yao Cheng drove, carrying Zhang Tian as they charged forward. This was a coordinated battle. At that moment, the opposing side clearly heard the motorcycle and saw the two rushing toward them. But they couldn’t spare the effort to return fire. The two shots fired earlier had left one of them incapacitated, and another on the verge of collapse. No one had fallen, but their combat strength was significantly diminished.

The motorcycle was not yet close enough. The wounded man was hastily taking medicine to recover his health; one stood guard while another helped the fallen teammate. In a short while, the downed man was revived, and the one with critically low health used a first aid kit and drank two energy drinks to restore himself. Apart from the one just helped to his feet, the other three now had the opportunity to launch an attack.

Just then, the motorcycle drew near.

Rat-a-tat-tat!

The gunfire erupted.

Despite knowing there were shooters in the distance, they had no choice but to return fire. If they waited for the motorcycle to arrive, they would likely lose the initiative.

A barrage of bullets rained over Yao Cheng and Zhang Tian, along with their motorcycle.

Bang! Bang!

Two more shots rang out from afar!

The sound of the sniper rifles startled those firing. Unfortunately, by the time they reacted, it was already too late.

Their only teammate with a level-three helmet had lost it in the previous exchange; it was shattered and rendered useless.

So this time, as Yang Hao and Zhu Ziyuan fired again, no one could escape. The two men, each felled by a headshot from Yang Hao and Zhu Ziyuan, crumpled to the ground.

This sudden turn of events caught them completely off guard.

With two down, only two remained standing. One was the man who had just been revived; his health was still not fully restored. He understood there was no time to recover completely. After using his first aid kit, he did not bother with energy drinks, but instead gripped his gun and fired at Yao Cheng and Zhang Tian, who were nearly upon them.

He knew that the most crucial task was to take down these two close-range opponents first. If the pair on the motorcycle were eliminated, they would have a moment to breathe, revive their teammates, restore their status, and then target the two snipers at the airdrop. Only then would they have a chance to win this battle. Otherwise, they would be at the mercy of their opponents.

There was another key factor: Yang Hao and his partner had just fired their sniper rifles, so to shoot again, they had to cycle the bolt and reload—a brief moment of vulnerability.

This, in theory, gave them an opening.

Yet their hopes were dashed; Zhang Tian gave them no such opportunity.

Just as they fired, Yao Cheng seemed ready, and the motorcycle skidded into a tailspin, its path unpredictable. As the bike veered, their guns lost sight of the target. By the time they adjusted their aim, Yao Cheng and Zhang Tian were already upon them.

Rat-a-tat-tat!

Yao Cheng drove straight into one of them, while Zhang Tian leapt from the motorcycle and shot down the other.

In an instant, the entire squad was wiped out.

“Damn, what flawless teamwork!”
“A beautiful counterattack!”
“Two sharpshooters, absolutely terrifying!”
“That’s what real sniping is—one shot, one head!”
“Why can’t I ever get teammates like this?”

As the battle concluded, watching the four on screen, the audience in the studio couldn’t help but regard them with newfound admiration.

In the game, Zhang Tian crouched behind a stone, taking medicine. Though he had just successfully scored a kill, his own health was severely depleted, especially after jumping off the vehicle—his health bar nearly emptied. Meanwhile, after eliminating the squad, Yao Cheng drove the enemy’s little yellow car to pick up Yang Hao and Zhu Ziyuan at the airdrop site.

Though they had weathered some twists and turns, the spoils were quite satisfactory. This airdrop, though not perfect, left Yang Hao and his team thoroughly pleased. The M24 alone was worth it.

The game had only just begun, and they already had an M24 in hand—easy times lay ahead. Of course, if they could trade the M24 for an AWM, it would be even better. But that was wishful thinking; an M24 was good enough, and more importantly, they now had a ghillie suit.

Zhu Ziyuan donned the ghillie suit. With the M24, an eight-times scope, level-three helmet, level-three armor, and the ghillie suit, he was kitted out as an elite sniper.

At this moment, Old Jiang in the broadcast booth watched the four players onscreen, lost in thought. Others focused on Yang Hao’s impressive maneuvers, but he paid closer attention to their division of labor and teamwork.

A four-person squad is fundamentally different from solo combat. Squad play means functioning as a true team. Beyond skilled marksmanship and movement, coordination, mutual understanding, and tactical planning among teammates are all vital.

Generally, a well-formed squad has clear roles for each member. It’s well known that a squad should include a sniper, a rifleman, an assaulter, and support—often called the medic.

The sniper demands exceptional marksmanship, for often they have only one chance to strike and must ensure a kill. Ambushing and flanking are also the sniper’s responsibilities. They must possess keen observation skills, to spot enemies as soon as they enter the field of vision, relay accurate information to teammates, and know how to stay hidden—if exposed, they risk being quickly eliminated and losing rear support.

The rifleman’s marksmanship is also crucial, especially for precision shots. Upon landing and finding a weapon, the rifleman must swiftly help clear nearby enemies, find optimal cover, and provide direct fire and rapid support.

The assaulter requires sharp awareness, movement, and a sense of direction. When two squads clash, the assaulter can quickly flank or sneak around to strike from unexpected angles. This role often doubles as the squad leader, who must be adept at driving, choosing landing zones, managing loot time, planning safe routes, and deciding how to maneuver in the final circles.

Support, or the medic, must loot quickly and, when finding valuable gear, prioritize teammates. They carry extra ammo and supplies, acting as the squad’s mobile resource bank. Never underestimate the medic: regardless of their marksmanship or kill count, the medic always contributes the most. In battle, the medic is the team’s steadfast backbone—ready to revive you when you’re down, and selflessly supply resources when you’re out of ammo.

In every team, every member’s role is indispensable. Sometimes, it’s not a matter of weak teammates, but simply differing responsibilities.
