Chapter Sixty-Six: The Annihilation of the Blood God
"Kill!"
With Yi Ke's command, hundreds of arrows capable of slaying high-level warriors rained down upon the Blood God and the Ghost God.
But at that very moment, a shocking scene unfolded.
The Blood God's body suddenly turned a deep crimson, and arrows shot through him without causing the slightest harm. As for the Ghost God, faced with the barrage, he vanished with a whisper, reappearing ten yards away as if he had teleported, his movements ghostly and unpredictable.
When the assault passed, both the Blood God and the Ghost God remained unscathed.
This sight caused Yi Tian, Yi Ke, and the others' expressions to darken. Clearly, the techniques cultivated by the Blood God and the Ghost God were exceptionally sinister, granting them strange powers. Their attacks posed no threat to these two.
Nonetheless, Yi Tian's formidable awareness sensed a faint weakening in the Blood God's aura, though it was barely perceptible.
Just then, the Blood God and the Ghost God charged forward.
"Kill!"
Yi Tian was the first to spring into action.
His surging, blazing true energy poured into the Golden Scale Sword, unleashing peerless sword qi that slashed toward the Blood God and the Ghost God in succession.
The Ghost God, seeing this, vanished in an instant, dodging those terrifying sword strikes, reappearing several yards away in the blink of an eye.
The Blood God, however, paid no heed and charged straight for Yi Tian, ignoring the searing sword qi.
Shhh, shhh, shhh...
Strands of the indomitable, blazing sword qi sliced into the Blood God's body and pierced straight through. These attacks burned away a small portion of the crimson energy within him, but did not harm his flesh in the slightest. It was as if his body had become pure blood-red energy—the wounds closed in a flash, as though he had never been injured at all.
How bizarre!
Yi Tian's pupils shrank in disbelief.
It was the first time he had witnessed such a strange technique—one that allowed even the body to be pierced at will, like a being formed of energy.
Yet the Blood God was not without weakness. Yi Tian's overpowering sword qi burned away a portion of his crimson energy each time.
Even so, the Blood God did not suffer lethal harm. Withstanding Yi Tian's attack, he quickly closed the distance.
With a crash, the Blood God struck at Yi Tian with his palm—a surge of crimson energy erupted, threatening to corrode flesh and bone, filling Yi Tian with a sense of peril.
"Slash!"
The Golden Scale Sword in Yi Tian's hand, shrouded in blazing sword qi, came down in an instant upon the Blood God's head.
With a squelch...
The strike cleaved the Blood God in two.
Yet the Blood God gave a twisted smile, and his palm attack did not cease—instead, it sped toward Yi Tian even faster.
For any other ninth-rank peak warrior, faced with the Blood God's fearless assault, there would be no way to counter—such an opportunity would allow the Blood God to inflict a devastating blow in an instant, perhaps even kill outright.
Even Yi Tian, whose mastery of the Featherflight Art allowed him to unleash ghostly speed with a thought, could not match the Blood God's attack speed. Everything happened in a flash—too quickly to react.
Great Sun Divine Art!
Yi Tian unleashed the full power of his Great Sun Divine Art. Blazing true energy roared around him, transforming him into a god of fire; the space within several yards seemed to become a sea of flames. With a thunderous roar, he punched toward the Blood God's crimson palm.
Boom!
With an explosive crash, both Yi Tian and the Blood God were driven back.
On Yi Tian's fist, crimson energy sizzled, gnawing away at his flesh—but it was quickly incinerated and purified by his blazing true energy, leaving only faint scorch marks on the back of his hand.
The Blood God fared worse—his right palm was wreathed in flames, burning away his crimson energy, his aura visibly weakening.
Though the Blood God's energy was strange and terrifying, it could not match the overbearing sun-true energy of the Great Sun Divine Art.
So that's it.
Yi Tian understood the Blood God's weakness at last.
So long as he burned away all the crimson energy, the Blood God would be left powerless.
It could be said that Yi Tian's sun-true energy was the perfect counter to the Blood God's power. Any other warrior's true energy would be no match for the sinister crimson energy, unable to resist its invasion.
If that energy invaded a warrior's body, their flesh and blood would be corroded, and defeat would be inevitable.
What was more, most warriors' true energy, while destructive, lacked elemental attributes and were vulnerable to the crimson energy, which devastated their bodies. Yet their own energy could not harm the Blood God, merely depleting itself.
This was the Blood God's greatest reliance—strange and terrifying.
But now, the Blood God had met his match in Yi Tian, whose true energy was violently hot and destructive. The Blood God's energy was constantly burned and purified by the sun-true energy.
Arrows were useless against the Blood God, or inflicted only meager harm.
After all, they could not condense true energy into arrows sufficient to pose a threat to the Blood God. With their cultivation, they could only infuse a small amount of true energy into each arrow, which did little damage.
Yi Tian, seeing this, abandoned his most powerful archery, engaging the Blood God in hand-to-hand combat.
Scorching sun flames and crimson energy collided again and again, each impact erupting in explosions.
The Blood God's energy repeatedly invaded Yi Tian's body, but was incinerated in an instant by his sun-true energy, leaving him unharmed. In contrast, Yi Tian's sun-true flames constantly eroded the Blood God's crimson energy.
"This is bad!"
The Blood God's expression changed drastically.
He never imagined Yi Tian's true energy would be so fierce and destructive; even his Blood Demon energy could not withstand it, being burned away ever more rapidly.
It must be known—he had cultivated the Blood Demon Art, an earth-rank technique. Though incomplete, it had allowed him to forge this crimson energy, fusing his body with it so thoroughly he was nearly unkillable.
He had relied on the Blood Demon Art's bizarre and terrifying power to defeat even ninth-rank peak warriors. Many had perished by his hand, and until now, he had never once been defeated.
Now, fear gripped him.
He wanted to flee, but could not shake Yi Tian.
All he could do was defend, while the Blood Demon energy within him was quickly worn away and burned by sun-true energy.
The Blood God's defeat was only a matter of time.
Meanwhile, the Ghost God was already locked in battle with the Yi clan's warriors—a fight shrouded in strangeness.
The Ghost God was elusive as a specter, wielding a mysterious technique that rendered Yi Ke and the other high-level warriors unable to land a single blow. Instead, several of their top warriors fell prey to his phantom attacks, with many more suffering grievous wounds.
"You all, withdraw!"
At last, Yi Ke ordered the seventh-rank tribal warriors to retreat from the field.
With their strength, they had no hope of resisting a single blow from the Ghost God, who could kill them in an instant. Keeping them in the fight would only increase casualties needlessly.
Thus, over a hundred seventh-rank warriors withdrew, leaving only about twenty eighth-rank warriors to battle the Ghost God. Even the Ghost God could not kill an eighth-rank warrior in one move.
With nearly twenty eighth-rank warriors working together, the Ghost God was unable to break through.
"Ah!"
Just as the battle raged, a terrible scream erupted from the Blood God.
Yi Tian smashed him away with a single punch, leaving a charred hole in his chest.
"Kill!"
Yi Tian used the Featherflight Art, appearing before the Blood God in a flash, terrifying sun-true energy gathered in his palm.
Boom!
In an instant, the Blood God was blasted apart by Yi Tian, his crimson energy utterly incinerated, his body burned to blackened fragments that scattered in all directions.
The Blood God—defeated and destroyed!
This turn of events instantly drew the attention of the distant Yi Ke, the other eighth-rank warriors, and the Ghost God.
The Ghost God, his face hidden behind a metal mask, betrayed no visible emotion, but the faint tremor of his body revealed a ripple of turmoil within—he was far from calm.
On the side of the tribe, spirits soared.
"Captain, hurry and finish off this ghastly thing!"
Seeing Yi Tian slay the Blood God, Yi Feng of the Reincarnation Squad could not help but shout for aid.
The Reincarnation Squad joined the battle against the Ghost God.
Yet the Ghost God's movements were too uncanny—like teleportation—making him impossible to strike, and instead, they were wounded by his attacks, suffering not lightly.
Had their strength been any less, or their mastery of the Featherflight Art not so deep, their plight would have been even more dire.
Yi Tian, too, noticed the Ghost God's strangeness; even under the combined assault of nearly twenty eighth-rank warriors, he remained unscathed, moving with ease, while everyone on the tribe's side bore wounds. If this stalemate continued, these warriors would slowly be worn down and slain by the Ghost God.
