Chapter 108: Another City
The three of them listened with solemn expressions; whether or not Yun Xi’s suspicion could be confirmed, it was not good news for any of them.
“Time is of the essence. Let’s first check the city gate on the other side,” Mu Ningzhu decided without hesitation.
As the four stepped out of the room, they just happened to meet Zhou Langchen, who had clearly just returned from outside. Yun Xi’s eyes flickered; exchanging glances with the others, she then approached and cupped her hands respectfully.
“Friend Zhou, I wonder if you rested in the upper chamber last night?”
She suddenly recalled a dream she had once had, in which there seemed to be a pair of eyes much like these.
As her voice rose, Hu Ao felt an overwhelming sense of submission welling up from his very soul. His body involuntarily knelt down, yet he seemed entirely unaware of this, his proud spirit vanished, slowly sinking to his knees.
“They’re all crazy, never serious at any time, ha!” Lei laughed heartily. Deceitful tricks like these were exactly what they were most familiar with and enjoyed—naturally, it was an easy task for them.
Master Luo was filled with inexplicable horror. After such fierce fighting, how could anyone stealthily lurk at the side without a sound, even managing to push Meng Qi in another direction without a scratch? Didn’t this prove the two trusted each other completely, even their internal energies flowing together harmoniously without conflict?
Meng Qi rubbed his temples twice, then with lightning speed snatched up the bald fox.
This had also caused his psychological distortion, though he had never revealed this to anyone in the Kong family.
Shortly after the convoy departed, Xia Yi drove toward the city, his phone constantly dialing. To outsiders, his face showed no emotion; only his eyes stared straight through the car window at the rapidly passing night scenery.
Mary was so angered by the swan that she nearly lost her words; yet after a pause, she suddenly threw back her head and laughed heartily.

“Go to my room and bring me the water bottle—the desert camo one hanging on the cabinet door,” Lei said helplessly, glancing at Kelly.
He said nothing else but embraced her tightly with surprising force, as if to meld her flesh and blood into his own. How long it lasted, no one knew, until suddenly he bent down and kissed her lips—gently, tenderly, cherishingly, and with deep yearning.
“It’s useless. If she doesn’t learn the truth from back then, we very likely have no future!” Even though he knew he would never let go, for Chu Qing, with Xiao Caifu still harboring hatred toward him, making her fall in love again was indeed an exceedingly difficult task.
The man turned slightly, and a faint scent of blood wafted into Xiao Caifu’s nostrils.
Lei Muge clutched his chest and collapsed straight down. Before he could reach the ground, the image suddenly vanished.
“Your Majesty, after you seized the crystal ball, you indeed enraged the King of Light. Our ministers stationed in the Kingdom of Light informed him of the crystal ball’s secret, and he led his soldiers to besiege Dugu Jian’s cabin…” The stranger spoke excitedly, as if eager to extend his tongue midair.
“Who are they? How many?” Zhao Zikai was startled. The west side belonged to Yang Guang’s territory; naturally, these must be Sui soldiers.
Li Hao turned his head and saw Han Zai Cheng smirk knowingly—this person seemed to understand everything. After all, was the half-blood more Korean or Chinese? How could someone who wore all designer brands be kicked out to sit by the roadside?
If An Changhe was a scoundrel, then what should one call the deeds of this man now?
This jade-faced fox, Cheng Shisan, fancied himself a gallant rogue. His lustful nature was no secret, but he was not a great villain. Moreover, he always acted alone, elusive and unpredictable, with a somewhat noble temperament. To say he had been bribed seemed highly unlikely.
A few days later, when Li Xiaoyun had run out of money even to buy instant noodles, she finally picked up the phone and called Shen Ye.
Lalu’s eyes widened, the bright gaze filled with disbelief and a barely perceptible excitement.
“Would you like to take a bath now?” After a few minutes’ rest, hearing her breathing steady, he closed his eyes and whispered softly.
---
Su Yuyang turned to look at Ling Miao. His eyes seemed to be encased in thick ice, cold tendrils shooting toward Ling Miao, as if threads were weaving him into an icy cocoon.
For several days, until the group was about to leave the desolate grassland, they encountered no danger.
Inside the villa of Yang Hua and Yao Feier, four parents sat together. Yang Hua and Yao Feier sat on opposite sides, each tilting their heads away, refusing to look at each other.
Since returning from Yan Li’s concert, Su Yuyang felt Ling Miao growing distant. He believed he had done nothing out of line, yet Ling Miao remained indifferent, many actions seemingly preprogrammed.
At that moment, Meng Yu, having bought breakfast, was about to return to the company when he saw Yang Hua.
During seating, naturally, the Earth Dragon humbly yielded for a long time, finally sitting at the lower end beside Li Hongzhang and Xiang Yongtai. The clerks busied themselves serving tea, directing servants to bring dishes and wine. Only after all this did they step aside to wait and pour wine for the dignitaries.
As the guard’s voice fell, the other guards began to cheer: “Please, Commander, show us your martial skills!”
Yun Feiyu and Ye Fenlan chatted and laughed the whole way, as if their topics were endless, strolling across the street together.
The tomb was surrounded by numerous sacrificial pits and graves of various forms and meanings—over 400 have been identified, including the world-renowned Terracotta Army, known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”
In the following days, Cheng Yaojin led his troops as ordered by Li Shimin to create a grand show of force around Yanmen Pass, fabricating the illusion of a massive army’s approach. Perhaps this strategy worked, for within two days, the Turks actually retreated.
