The Wutong Spirit!
Over the past year, Gao Qingzhi had carried out quite a number of missions for the Underworld Bureau.
As far as memorable experiences went, the Wutong Spirit easily ranked among the top three.
Of course, it was not merely the Wutong Spirit, but also that unknown demon capable of transforming from a cat into a tiger. Without that demon, killing the Wutong Spirit would not have been nearly so easy.
Afterward, he had wanted to ask Zhao Jia about the demon, but Zhao Jia had brushed him off with vague answers, and so he had not pressed the matter to the end.
There was nothing much between demons and humans—
Before they knew it, the Beginning of Winter had arrived. According to the customs of the twenty-first century, today was supposed to be a day for eating dumplings. Looking at the thick snowflakes drifting down from the sky outside, then at the wonton soup in her bowl, with a few cilantro leaves floating on its surface, Lan Xing'er suddenly felt an inexplicable sadness. She was homesick. She missed her father and mother, and the dumplings her mother used to make.
Just as the fiery dragon shot straight into the heavens, its raging flames completely cutting off Ling Yun and Di Shitian from one another's sight, Ling Yun suddenly vanished in a flash. Like a white colt darting past, he appeared before Po Jun, and his right foot struck with the force of thunder, slamming mercilessly into Po Jun's chest.
Unfortunately, Li Guang and Zhao Shiqi had actually lost their way in the desert and missed the appointed date.
Everything unfolded exactly as Ling Yun had predicted. They had not gone very far before more than a dozen crudely built wooden houses came into view in the valley. At a glance, it was obvious that all of them had been constructed only recently.
“I have not been in the palace for long, and I do not know much about him. I have only heard that he is an exceptionally valiant man and enjoys His Majesty’s favor.” Qing Shuang could not understand why Consort An would take an interest in a mere martial artist from another realm, someone with no connection whatsoever to the women of the imperial harem.
Consort Xun raised her head and said disdainfully, “Who knows how many people are secretly laughing? Apart from the Empress and Consort Ru, she is the only one who has a son. She is simply too ostentatious. In particular, that fox Consort Jian hates her to the bone. Only Consort Ying dares to oppose her.”
The mere mention of Consort Jian made Consort Xun gnash her teeth in hatred.
“Empress, you may take your leave.” The Dowager Empress had summoned the Empress specifically for this matter. Now that a solution had been found, she no longer wished to detain her and spoke in a flat voice.
“Fire energy faintly suppresses wood energy. The Duan section of the Shao Alliance should have the upper hand.” Tang Kai drew a dagger, severed the major arteries of the two Xuan Alliance members, and casually wiped some of their blood across himself.
Having served in the palace for many years, how could Hu Anling not understand such principles? He immediately went to each chamber door and respectfully reminded them that the appointed hour was approaching.
“Hey, can you let me finish?” Mike glared at Larry. “The key point is that Li Zhilü said he would transfer the operating rights in his possession to Bobby at the original price, but Bobby did not accept.”
Yang Ming knew that fights among the prisoners in a detention center were an everyday occurrence, but he had not expected to encounter one on his very first day. Still, when he recalled Bao Sanli’s attitude toward him when he had first arrived, he felt relieved. Every prisoner here was a tough character who swaggered about as he pleased; a little conflict was only natural.
After all, Yang Ming and Shu Ya were merely ordinary friends. It was impossible for Yang Ming to visit Shu Ya every time he went to Heaven on Earth.
“What smells so awful?” I was still lost in fantasies of gold coins when Yiming Jingren appeared from nowhere and began sniffing repeatedly.
Xia Shangyuan and Young Master Zhang, seated nearby, both smiled as they raised their wine cups. From the looks of it, they intended to take turns drinking the old man under the table.
“Two eminent monks? This method of yours is nothing more than using my brother as a scapegoat. Is it a Buddhist technique or some Nanyang sorcery? Why don’t you tell us?” Zhou Yi let out a mocking chuckle, his gaze gradually turning icy.
Once everything was ready, I took up the Hero Sword and suddenly surged forward, flying ahead in a charge, with Yun Meng following close behind.
“Yes!” All the Northern Sword soldiers summoned their strength and roared loudly. Hearing their voices, the faces of several shopkeepers changed, and they hurriedly lowered their heads.
“What’s wrong?” Lin Qianxiao smiled when she heard me call her and edged a little closer to my side. I sniffed discreetly. Aside from the faint scent of traditional medicine, the rest was the fragrance of the body wash and shampoo I loved.
