She has taken a liking to him.

Chen Wanqian panicked. "I don't know, it's my colleague's. I just borrowed it to wear for a few days."
Su Wan was skeptical. "Wasn't it given to you by him to win your favor?"
Chen Wanqian quickly shook her head. "No, he took it from the pawnshop, and I borrowed it for a few days."
Upon hearing this, the old man's gloom finally faded a bit. He reached out to Chen Wanqian and said sternly, "Then return it. That boy really lacks propriety, giving his fiancée's bracelet to a female colleague."
Chen Wanqian's face flushed with embarrassment. She had heard that Wang Luo had a fiancée, a sloppy-looking, overweight woman.
She had been confident that when they met, she would outshine Wang Luo's fiancée.
But now, she had worn the fiancée's bracelet and caused a farce.
She hurriedly slipped off the bracelet and placed it in the old man's hand. "I'm sorry, that was improper of me."
The old man snorted, then handed the bracelet to Su Wan. "The young lady is quite pretty, but manners must match, don't you think?"
"It's best not to touch what doesn't belong to you."
Chen Wanqian lowered her head, biting her lip in mortification, unable to speak.
[Warning! The heroine's mentality has changed, which will affect the plot.] The cold system voice sounded abruptly.
Su Wan, who had been waiting for the system's warning, was puzzled. She had stood up and argued with the heroine just now, yet there was no OOC.
Could it be that, except for playing Wang Luo's sycophant, everything else was free for her to act as she wished?
The system continued to issue warnings. Su Wan hurriedly pulled the old man away. "Grandpa, let's go home. I'm starving."
The old man glared at Chen Wanqian once more before leaving with Su Wan.
Outside the hospital, Su Wan busied herself unlocking the bicycle, while the old man leisurely took out a wad of money from his pocket. "No rush, let's go buy some clothes."
"Buy just what that girl wore. I refuse to believe you'd look worse than her."
Su Wan glanced at the patches on her grandfather's trousers and quickly shook her head. "Forget it, Grandpa. I'm too fat right now. It's not too late to buy clothes once I've slimmed down."
"Why slim down? You're already thin enough. Listen to your grandfather and go buy something." The old man insisted, trying to pull Su Wan toward the mall.
But Su Wan stood her ground.
She once had a wardrobe larger than the town square, filled with all sorts of luxury clothes and bags.
She had long passed the age of envying others' clothes.
"Enough, Grandpa. I really don't want to buy anything, and honestly, the clothes she's wearing aren't even that nice. I'm starving. Let's go get something to eat!"
The old man wanted to say more but was dragged by Su Wan to a roadside stall, where they bought two scallion pancakes.

Su Wan grinned and broke her pancake in half, offering one half to the old man. "Grandpa, you worked hard pedaling the bike. Eat a little more."
The old man waved his hand right away. "I'm not hungry, I won't eat." He tried to give his half to Su Wan.
But it was lunchtime—how could he not be hungry?
Su Wan pushed his hand away, stuffing the pancake into his mouth with a smile. "Then I'm not hungry either. I told you, I'm dieting."
Seeing his granddaughter's cheerful face, the old man's gloom melted away. The girl had learned to be considerate.
[Showing filial piety to grandfather, virtue points +1.] The system chimed.
Su Wan, engrossed in her pancake, was delighted. Gathering virtue points wasn't so hard after all!
But how should she proceed with the divorce plot?
After a day of turmoil, there was no progress, and she had even shaken the heroine's mentality.
The old man was the key, but why did he insist she marry Wang Luo?
Su Wan couldn't figure it out.
By the time they returned home, dusk had settled.
As soon as Su Wan entered the yard, she caught the delicious aroma of food.
"Wow, Su Chen actually knows how to cook!" Su Wan exclaimed, impatiently tossing her bicycle into the woodshed and rushing toward the kitchen.
The old man was also surprised. Had both his grandsons grown up overnight?
But when they entered the kitchen, they were stunned. Standing by the stove was Jiang Xiaolang.
The man's face was expressionless; he only nodded slightly when he saw Su Wan and her grandfather, greeting the old man.
Su Wan cast a questioning glance at Su Chen.
At that moment, Su Chen was like a quail, hurriedly pulling Su Wan out of the kitchen as if escaping.
"You two are finally back. How did the checkup go? Any problems?"
Su Wan shook her head. "I'm fine. But why is he here?"
At the mention, Su Chen groaned. "He said he wanted to thank you for saving his life by helping out at our place."
"Please ask him to leave, okay? I really get scared when I see him."
Su Wan was surprised. "Scared of what? He won't eat you."
Unexpectedly, Su Chen's face was full of terror. "Why not?!"

"His father actually ate human flesh!"
Seeing Su Wan's disbelief, Su Chen grew anxious. "Weren't you always afraid of him too?"
Su Wan was stunned and quickly asked the system, "System, system, did Jiang Xiaolang's father really eat people?"
[No.]
Su Wan breathed a sigh of relief and was about to refute Su Chen when the system spoke slowly: [The one who raised him wasn't his father, but his adoptive father.]
"Huh? Then his adoptive father..." Su Wan's anxiety rose again.
[No, it's all rumors.] The system replied.
Su Wan finally relaxed again. "How can there be such outrageous rumors?"
[Jiang Xiaolang's real name is Jiang Mochen. His adoptive father was once a famous opera singer, who adopted a group of good-looking children to inherit his craft.]
[But times changed, and opera singers could no longer perform. Those children were left in his care.]
[There was a period when they couldn't get enough to eat. A little girl died of illness, and the adoptive father, unable to afford a burial, buried her in the backyard. When she was reburied after being discovered, her body had been gnawed by rats, and that's how the rumors began.]
Su Wan couldn't help but sigh. She hadn't expected Jiang Xiaolang to be such a tragic figure.
Meanwhile, Su Chen was still trembling with fear. "Sis, please ask him to leave. I'm really scared."
Su Wan was never immune to handsome men. Now, hearing of Jiang Mochen's pitiful background, she felt even more sympathetic and had no intention of sending him away.
"I think you're judging a gentleman by your own petty standards. He knows how to be grateful, and you make him out to be something else."
Su Wan gazed through the window at the man's tall figure; her heart was already in the kitchen.
"Sis, you haven't fallen for him, have you?" Su Chen was frantic. Su Wan's eyes brightened at his words. If she could get her grandfather to like Jiang Mochen, would he agree to break off the engagement?
They returned to the kitchen. Jiang Mochen set the dishes on the table and prepared to leave, but Su Wan quickly stopped him. "You've worked so hard, stay and eat with us."
The old man also invited Jiang Mochen to sit, but the man said he had things to do at home and insisted on leaving.
After he left, the old man silently picked up some greens with his chopsticks. "The young man's cooking is quite good."
Hearing this, Su Chen nearly dropped his chopsticks. The old man never praised anyone—could it be he was starting to like Jiang Mochen too?
